Ultimately, through self-awareness and self- acceptance, creating and enjoying more meaningful connections to life experiences, and in relationships.
I offer individuals and couples support in developing a better relationship with themselves, managing life transitions, improving self-esteem, coping with stress and exploring what feeds anxiety, depression and unhealthy relationships. I feel healthy change is often the result of having the courage to explore self-awareness with less judgment, and through the practice of self- acceptance and self-love. I see therapy as an opportunity to create a working relationship with your whole self, challenging defeating self-talk and the destructive narratives of “I’m not enough” while establishing a new foundation of self-worth to grow from.

I strive to create a therapeutic team with you which incorporates principles of acceptance & empathy, balanced with the right amount of tools/actions you can employ to achieve results in your life.
Often, when I speak to clients who are new to therapy, they will ask me, “So how does this therapy thing work?” It is normal to be nervous when you start therapy. I strive to make the process as comfortable as possible. The first thing I focus on is laying the groundwork for successful therapy: essentially, I develop a relationship with you that feels comfortable, collaborative and not intimidating. My approach to counseling incorporates acceptance, compassion and a sense of humor into our work. Through experience, I have learned that you will benefit the most from a collaborative approach.

Feeling shitty isn't normal. Life seems good on the outside, but deep down, something just feels off. Maybe you've been to the doctor, only to be told, 'Everything looks fine,' or given yet another prescription, but you know something isn’t right. You might be getting 8-10 hours of sleep, yet still feel completely drained, with no motivation or energy to do the things you know you 'should' be doing. What you really crave is to feel joy, peace, and excitement about life again. I understand how it feels to be lost, overwhelmed, and frustrated.

Even the "little" things feel overwhelming. Balancing work, relationships, and that inner voice telling you you're not good enough is exhausting. You’re carrying anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or relationship stress like an invisible weight, and no matter how well you mask it, deep down, you’re struggling. Despite looking like you’ve got your shit together, self-doubt and irritability creep in, and making lasting changes feels impossible. Some days, it's hard to keep going. But now, you're ready for something different. You're ready to quiet your mind, to feel relief, and most importantly, to take control of your life.

I have a passion for hearing people's stories and helping them find their place in this world. I believe we all have a desire to be happy and to feel whole. We have a core desire to feel wanted and loved and the first step is learning to love ourselves. Therapy can help you achieve that desire. The mind is the control center of behavior and emotion and if we can work through negative thought patterns together and help you realize the strengths that already lie within you, we can together create a healthier, happier YOU. My goal is to help you gain a sense of trust in yourself, and an openness to experience life to the fullest.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
