I believe deeply in the dignity and value of every hu man person.
Are you feeling as if you were created to be more fulfilled and happier than you are right now? Do you know that somewhere inside you there is potential to become the best version of yourself but haven’t been able to make this your daily reality? Do issues such as anxiety, depression, difficult relationships, past trauma, or attachments to things you can’t seem to let go of make you feel overwhelmed and disconnected? I want to help! Together, you and I will seek to better understand what is going on and I will help you gain insight into your current situation. From this clarity, a process of healing and freedom will begin.

I strive to give each patient the experience of being clearly seen and deeply understood. This occurs through interactive inquiry into the unique life experiences of each person. As we explore the sources of anxiety and distress that typically bring someone in to see me, trust develops and becomes the foundation for continued growth. Gradually, suffering diminishes, and there is an increase in self understanding and personal freedom. My hope is for each patient to live fully in the present with a strong sense of self, and with the capacity to have relationships that are rich and deeply satisfying. .

Often times, our struggles manifest in substance use, isolation, inconsistent relationships, or overwhelming emotions that can be difficult to manage on your own.
If you only take the time to read the first paragraph of my bio, here’s what I want to tell you: There’s nothing inherently “wrong” about who you are, it’s ok that you needed to do what you’ve done to survive and there is positive intention behind any behavior. If you don’t believe those things right now but you want to, that’s where I can help. My purpose as a counselor is to create a space where you feel comfortable to be real, become active in your healing and confident in determining what lasting change looks like for you.

Are you struggling with emotions, relationships, or identity? You may even be wishing that things just "go back to the way they used to be." Many feel stuck right now in a sea of constant change. This can lead to an overall resentment that may negatively impact everyday life.

My professional experiences have included work in the areas of depression and anxiety, relationships, grief and loss, death and dying, aging and caregiving, stress management, childhood trauma, crisis intervention, life and career transitions, creative and performing artist issues, and sexuality.
Counseling is an opportunity to be listened to, to be heard, and to be understood. These are essential hu man needs that often go unfulfilled in day-to-day life. When was the last time someone really focused on you—when you were valued by another person who helped you to reach your capabilities? I am a trained professional and fellow hu man being who respects and values the power of a healing relationship. My goal is to provide a safe, caring space where we can explore together your reasons for seeking counseling and to create an approach that best suits your needs.

Even the strongest minds can still get smashed by life. Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, chronic stress can come from any number of sources, trauma makes them worse. Job loss, hospitalizations, car wrecks, and difficulties with loved ones, can leave one feeling decimated and alone. You might feel like you’re walking around chronically stressed. Anger can get explosive, or you may feel numb, dazed, or flat out not sure what to do. But you do know what you have going on right now isn’t right. Therapy can help you overcome these problems.

I'm an interventionist and I am willing to work with justice-involved men who need calls made and letters written on their behalf to the courts and lawyers.
Has someone in your life told you that drinking, or drugs are problem for you?... They're wrong! Your drinking is not the problem, it's a solution! Substances help us cope with the slings and arrows of life. Drinking is merely a symptom of something deeper with which you’re struggling. We need to get down to causes and conditions of your substance use. My name is Adam, I’m in long-term recovery from drugs and alcohol and I would like to give you something that was given to me. If you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired, please call me. Let’s see if we’re a good fit for each other.

Looking for a good psychologist is hard and actually finding one is even harder. This is probably because understanding people, why they are struggling, and how to help takes hard work. Real change requires more than any quick fix or simple solution can offer. If you’re continually struggling in life, it might be time to look beyond the surface and explore the root of things. I will work with you in a depth-oriented manner that aims to deepen your self-understanding and create important and lasting change.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
