I utilize EMDR, CBT, psychodynamic, solution focused approaches, and DBT.
Your life has become a redundant pattern. In many ways, you feel numb. Your daily routine has become structured around meeting the needs for others and you have become disconnected from your own. You have experienced trauma and feel misunderstood by others. The patterns of these traumatic events appear to be reoccurring in the present day and you wonder how much longer you can carry the weight of this pain. Maybe you started to feel like this recently or maybe this has been ongoing for years, either way, you’re ready for a change. You aspire to feel empowered, gain self-worth, and to regain control.

DBT and EMDR are two of the methods I find most useful, combined with my compassion for everyone’s unique current state.
If you are struggling in your day to day life and want to learn new skills for coping differently, I can help. I am passionate about helping others build a life worth living. Intense emotions like shame, fear and sadness can make change feel impossible but evidence shows that we can grow and heal. Therapy can be a great place to start.

I use a variety of techniques including, but not limited to the following: assessment tools, coping skills training, psycho-education, DBT skills, reprocessing techniques (EMDR), and cognitive restructuring.
Are you wondering, "how did I get to this place?" Why am I anxious and/or depressed? Why are my relationships not working the way they used to? Many are walking around life and they do realize they are stuck until things just aren't working anymore. Our mental health impacts every aspect of our lives and is important to make a priority. I have been in a counseling role since 2004 helping people heal from past and present traumas and learn new ways to cope that lead to more free, full, and healthy life. My ideal client is someone who is ready to take the first step. Contact me today.

My approach is psychodynamic but I utilize a variety of techniques to facilitate healing including EMDR, Internal Family Systems, DBT skills, and have been certified as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.
We all have a story to tell. In my 20+ years of counseling individuals and couples, I’ve had the honor of hearing many stories that exhibit the strength of individuals healing from grief, injustice, trauma and chronic illness. I’ve been inspired by the resiliency of the human spirit and the hopefulness that inevitably develops as the narrative of one’s life unfolds. It can be a painful process but one that yields great rewards as we gain understanding of what our story has to tell us about our past and helps us to plan for our future.

Therapy works best when it is collaborative, which is why I weave various treatment modalities into my approach, including psychodynamic, CBT, DBT, and EMDR.
Seeking therapy is less about ‘fixing’ ourselves and more about learning to acknowledge discomfort. This is so we can unlock barriers that may be getting in the way of living the life we want. We learn to give ourselves permission to heal and grow because we are worth it, though we do not always believe this. Whether you are navigating shame and self-judgement, anxiety or depression, the effects of trauma, or craving a deeper connection with yourself and others, my therapy style is that of a deep commitment to holding space for you to explore, and when you feel ready, heal discomfort and connect to your true self.

Some of the evidence-based modalities I use are Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness Based Therapy.
Therapy can help us better understand ourselves, deepen our connection with loved ones, and build a life that we enjoy. I specialize in working with women who are experiencing challenging life transitions, difficult or intense emotions, or feel stuck in deeply engrained patterns of behavior. Sorting through our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors alone is often overwhelming and confusing. Therapy provides a supportive space for you to process your experiences, identify and shift thoughts and behaviors that are no longer helpful, and take meaningful steps toward a peaceful and more satisfying life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
