My name is Greg young. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Parent Coach. Over the last 15 years I have worked my hardest to find the simplest ways to assist people moving through their struggles. I have supported countless families, couples, and individuals struggling with crisis, communication difficulties, behavioral issues, shifting toxic dynamics, to last resort interventions. Sometimes reaching out is the hardest part. I am glad you are here! Vulnerability may just be your greatest strength for making the changes you really want to see. I look forward to embarking on this adventure with you!

How did things become so difficult? You recall the early days of your relationship, filled with love and laughter. Now, being in the same room with each other often leads to conflict, making avoidance feel like the only relief. You find yourself taking longer routes home from work and running unnecessary errands to escape the tension. Despite your guilt, avoiding each other seems preferable to constant arguments. You've tried various strategies to rekindle your relationship—reading self-help books, tuning into relationship advice podcasts, and even considering therapy. Yet, every effort leaves you still feeling alone with your pain.

Ideal clients are those impacted by their symptoms with an awareness of needing to evolve to overcome their daily struggle. As we start our journey at the bottom of the mountain we must understand there are several paths to the top. All of these paths have the potential to lead you to the top to find the view you've been looking for. You're going to choose your path, as with many things in life. I will walk alongside you as we ascend the mountain, meeting daily goals on the way. As we move forward, we'll process the roots, rocks, caves, canyons we traverse. Why do you keep tripping on them? Why are they holding you back?

Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I would love to offer you a safe, compassionate space to work through challenges in two of your most important relationships – with your partner and with yourself. Maybe you and your partner often butt heads because you see things so differently. Or perhaps the two of you have drifted apart, seem to be living parallel lives, and are not sure how to find your way back to each other. Or maybe you find yourself bumping up against old wounds, disempowering narratives, anxiety or other stress related patterns you are ready to be free of!

Starting the healing process is challenging and takes courage. Within all of us is a drive or desire to become whole, happy and connected to our self and our world. I see the importance of integrating all parts and aspects of our Self and becoming more whole and complete human beings. This journey into wholeness in the realization of our potential, underpins our personal journey of transformation and healing. This philosophy is at the core of my approach.

Would you like to set clear boundaries? Change persistent patterns that arise in relationships? Ease your heart’s longing to belong? Engage transitions thoughtfully and with empowerment? Embrace a greater sense of connection & well-being? Be more kindhearted with yourself & loved ones? Support your child living a more joyful life? These aspirations are natural, indicating a courageous readiness to reach a fuller potential and greater well-being. Adults express themselves through stories; children through play. Words & play activate the nervous & neural systems allowing access to emotions, thoughts, & sensations.

Hello, and thanks for taking the time to browse my profile. Given you're here there's likely something hindering you from living the life you desire. These blockages generally manifest most vividly in our relationships. The purpose of therapy should be to help consciously highlight, digest and integrate those unconscious obstacles that keep us stuck in our developmental path. I consider it my duty as a counselor to aid in this process by inviting you into a relationship grounded in honesty, care, respect, commitment, understanding, professionalism and a fair dose of humor to help lighten the load of this often burdensome journey.

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
