I strive to help you achieve real change in your life by building a compassionate and authentic therapeutic relationship.
I love to work with hurting people. People who are not too afraid to admit that they are experiencing brokenness. Those who are willing to look their pain square in the eyes, even when they are afraid, bravely state that pain does not have the final word. As we fight through our pain, we are making a statement that we KNOW there is life and hope on the other side of this. When we confront our pain, we might initially find only more pain behind it. But as we engage and press in with curious compassion for ourselves, we begin to see that, just maybe, this pain was our friend all along.

I can help create a space where we explore relationship trauma in childhood and in adulthood and how they still impact us today.
As human beings we are designed to connect with others. Sometimes this need for connection can cause confusion, pain, and loneliness when we have experienced events that have left us traumatized. We struggle when someone wants to get close and push them away, even though we desperately want to feel close to someone. Or we are suspicious of someone’s motives and keep our guard up. Or we shut everyone out completely because we seem to always be disappointed, mistreated, or abandoned by people who said they cared.

Sometimes getting away from an office is the best way to open yourself to change. When you feel stuck, as though you only go through the motions of the day, due to trauma and grief, spending time with horses (on the ground) and other animals is what is needed to get 'unstuck'. With specialty in grief recovery, I offer my horses and their intuitive nature to help clients make changes and get 'unstuck' in a safe, relaxed, peaceful setting. I also offer traditional therapy. We can sit in the quaint little office in the woods, take a walk through the trees or hang out with the animals; whatever you need on any particular day.

Do you struggle to understand why you sometimes respond to situations and events in ways that seem counterproductive? As human beings, for better or worse, we all experience people, environments, and events that shape our sense of self and how we interact with those around us. These experiences can lead to extreme sadness, anxiety, loss of hope, and serious struggles in relationships that interfere with feeling satisfied and living a fulfilled life. I love what I do as a therapist and feel privileged to work with people as they learn and grow toward who they hope to be.

Are you feeling disconnected from your partner, alone and lonely in what should be your most nourishing relationship? Perhaps your relationship has been reduced to little more than shouted insults or icy silences, and you wonder how it happened. As humans, we are hardwired to connect with others, and when our primary relationships are struggling, we can lose our sense of wholeness. Let me help you rediscover the joy of being a couple, with each partner feeling fully heard, appreciated, and cherished. I have a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, with post-graduate training in all three levels of the Gottman Method.

Much of people's suffering comes from feeling disconnected from others, unresolved past issues that affect their present lives, and feeling unsafe in their bodes. Trauma is often thought to be the result of war, or severe abuse, when really there is a whole range of experiences that can be traumatic. They can include growing up in an invalidating family environment, surgery and illness, the loss of a loved one, divorce or ongoing relationship issues. Because trauma affects the brain, body, and nervous system, integrative approaches have been most successful in helping people feel whole again and lead meaningful and satisfying lives.

While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
