Coming from a traumatic background I've had to do a great deal of my own healing. Starting the healing journey was a very difficult process, however, in identifying a great support system and seeking therapeutic services on my own I was able to experience tremendous growth and change. You are not alone and it is possible to experience healthy change and heal old wounds. I am eclectic in my therapeutic approach and use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, Play Therapy Techniques, Integrative Gestalt Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and psycho-education to individuals ages two and up.

Are you longing for more meaning and clarity? Does your life seem to look the way you thought a happy satisfying life should- and yet, you find yourself feeling unfulfilled and like something is missing? Do you feel hopeless to change anything? You are more capable than you realize. There is more depth, more meaning and purpose available! What if it's less about changing yourself and more about deepening your relationship with yourself to access your unique resiliency and strengths? What if it's not about making due, but more about recognizing and owning your needs as an integral part of showing up authentically and fully?

This includes listening deeply to what your insides feel like to you, expressing yourself more freely through movement, and leaning into your body as a place of safety and support.
Welcome. I work with people who want to live more fully in their bodies and develop a deep sense of trust in themselves. Those seeking body-centered healing and support for ptsd, complex relational trauma, narcissistic abuse, postpartum anxiety/depression, life transitions like marriage/children/divorce, and spiritual emergence often find there way to my office.

I'm immersed in the awareness practices of: The Discipline of Authentic Movement, Insight Meditation, and 5 Rhythms.
There are many struggles we face in life and sometimes we don’t feel properly equipped. Issues with money, food, relationships, trust, sex, body, self-esteem… come up and sometimes we get stuck using very well-intended safety strategies that no longer work. Whatever struggles you are facing, we can work together to identify how they came to be, why they are important, and what you need to transcend them. This process is invaluable, profound and deeply fulfilling. My focus is support you to do the work of staying with the process, being aware when you need to pull back or move in and encourage your continued commitment to yourself.

As a Somatic therapist, LPC, and Dance/ Movement therapist, my background as a performance artist, teacher, and leader aids in my experiential and creative approach to therapy.
I help ambitious, creative, and compassionate professional women ready to make an impact on the world, but struggle with trusting their own instincts. If you are feeling misunderstood, alone, and/or fighting excessive perfectionism and self-judgement, I will support you in uncovering the tools you already possess for authentically connecting with your inner strength and wisdom. Unlike reading self-help blogs that don't work or struggling with self destructive habits and feeling badly about yourself, I will give you specific techniques to help you make better decisions, connect with your body and feel more empowered.

I help people create lasting change, by weaving Internal Family Systems, trauma therapies EMDR and Brainspotting, body-centered and mindfulness skills, Creative/Expressive Arts, Dance Therapy and Neoshamanic practices, during sessions to facilitate healing and integration.
As a seasoned psychotherapist/life coach, I believe in our innate healing potential and guide my clients to unlock their internal wisdom, resilience and resources for healing. Somatic (body-centered), mindfulness-based approaches to holistic coaching and therapy, allow me to integrate my clinical training while tuning into intuition to effectively guide the unfolding healing process of my clients. Trauma-informed, holistic coaching and therapy allows for greater capacity to rewire the brain, which can make the unconscious conscious and shift your automatic reactive patterns and outdated beliefs, helping you to live your best life.

Dance Movement Therapy

What can I expect from dance/movement therapy?

During dance therapy, the therapist will guide the client through dance movements that metaphorically represent a particular challenge, reflect their internal emotional state, or otherwise express physically what is happening for the client mentally. The therapist may “mirror” the client’s movements or simply observe. The client may be encouraged, as they dance, to pay attention to their breath or other physical sensations. Afterward, the therapist and client will often debrief to help the client process the experience.

Is dance/movement therapy evidence-based?

A small body of research has found that dance therapy can help treat conditions like depression, PTSD, anxiety, and eating disorders, as well as nonclinical issues like low self-esteem or family conflict. However, some experts caution that the evidence in favor of dance therapy is not as robust as that of other, more established therapies, and some of the published research is of low quality. Many recommend that dance therapy be used as a complementary rather than stand-alone treatment.

Can dance therapy help with depression?

Some research suggests that dance/movement therapy can aid in the treatment of depression, especially when combined with other therapies; some studies, for example, report that dance therapy combined with antidepressants or talk therapy is more effective than those treatments alone. The positive effects of dance therapy may come from the movement itself, as it’s well-known that physical activity can improve mood and bolster motivation in those struggling with depression.

What are the limitations of dance therapy?

People with disabilities or other conditions that hinder movement may find it more challenging to participate in dance therapy, though a well-trained therapist will take a client’s physical limitations into account when designing a treatment plan. Experts also warn that certain conditions, particularly eating disorders, should never be treated with dance therapy alone; it may, however, be used as an adjunct therapy.
