I work with clients primarily from a Christian worldview, but I am experienced working with other faith traditions as well.
My work with people is about getting to the root of the issue. I am a third-generation pastor and a counselor and that helps me to look at both the spiritual and psychological paths to finding solutions. Utilizing pastoral counseling experience from different countries and therapies like REBT and EMDR, I have been able to help all kinds of people to take steps forward in their lives that will lead to long-lasting changes.

I draw heavily from Emotionally Focused Therapy with a Christian worldview to help couples reconnect to feel secure and safe.
Feeling disconnected from your spouse is possibly one of the most awful feelings. It's heart-wrenching when communication is poor at best and intimacy is borderline nonexistent. You can both feel the tension and want to reconnect, but perhaps you need some help figuring out how. You don't have to surrender to tension and discord or settle for feeling like roommates. Couple's therapy can help you reconnect, navigate the tough stuff while loving each other well, and take control of your relationship to develop it into the one you want it to be. You can rekindle the love, connection, and passion in your marriage.

In my therapeutic approaches I will incorporate cognitive-behavior (CBT) and solution-focused therapy, including other modalities and Christian counseling, depending on each person’s unique needs and goals.
My desire is to bring care and compassion into the counseling relationship. I believe there is hope in breaking free from pain and fear, ultimately bringing about a life of purpose and joy. I bring with me experience in family relationships, raising children (who are now all adults), and marriage. Life in the military also brings with it the experience of instability and change in family and relationships. I believe each person has their own story to tell and that ultimately, healing is possible.

My two greatest passions are working with those who are wanting to live out their Christian faith in a way that is honoring to God and to walk with individuals to discover real and life-changing hope. Clients that I work well with want to acknowledge their strengths and weaknesses while seeking to grow in their fellowship with God. It is hard to reconcile that life is hard and God is good. Whether it is dealing with relational issues, depression, anxiety, or addictions, if you desire to live life in a way that is honoring God with authenticity, then connect with me.

I take an eclectic, strengths-based approach to treating attachment, trauma, anxiety, depression, challenging behavior issues, parenting, existential crises, divorce recovery, and Christian counseling.
Our life’s journey begins the moment our heart begins to beat. Our path is marked by significant people and experiences impacting our attachment, mindset, and worldview. Some are positive and some are painful, both leaving a lasting impression that reflect in our identity, self-esteem, and sense of purpose. I seek to walk alongside my clients as they find meaning in those relationships and experiences. I am considerate of the story my clients have to tell and offer a compassionate space to meet them where they are, and offer an authentic therapeutic relationship.

As a licensed mental health therapist, I specialize in Christian Counseling and using the Word of God (Bible) as an Effective Tool.
Humans were created with three parts - spirit, soul, and body. How we navigate those three areas will, in large, determine our current functioning and overall journey. Anxiety, significant life decisions, relationships, trauma, and other issues can be overwhelming. Mental health therapy can help equip us, bring understanding, and navigate each of our three parts.

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
