Henry's He art Art Therapy is located within an arts community which is rich with opportunity to embrace the arts in many forms.
I am an experienced Art Therapist, artist, wife and mother. I experienced that loss of my oldest son at birth due to HELLP Syndrome in 2003. I understand this type of grief both personally and professionally. I also understand the issues that arise when you also struggle with fertility issues following a loss. Becoming pregnant in the midst of these issues requires a mindfulness practice to stay in the present while paying attention to the past and being hopeful for the future. I work from a creative arts-based practice that focuses on your strengths.

Over the course of my career which spans 20 years, I have been trained in a range of modalities including Rapid Resolution Therapy, Art therapy, Play Therapy, EMDR, TF-CBT, and a somatic approach to the treatment of trauma.
When people experience trauma, severe life stressors, or even experience change of any kind, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. My passion and greatest gift is bringing healing to people who have been through a traumatic/stressful experience. I help my clients, children, adults, and families, including the very young (ages 2-5), find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships so they can know themselves as restored, complete, whole, and safe.

I use techniques from play therapy, sand tray therapy, art therapy, and more.
Not everything that weighs you down is yours to carry. You have been carrying around your burdens for a long time with no end in sight. You feel tired, worn out, hopeless. You might wonder if things can ever get better. I believe that they can. I believe that counseling can give you the tools to manage the stresses of life. You might be weighed down by fear, sadness, grief, loss, or the past. Together, we can make these things just a little bit easier to manage and help you move toward the life you want.

I utilize the following forms of therapy to assist in working through the harsh impacts trauma can have; EMDR, Art Therapy, Emotional Freedom Therapy, Psychedelic Therapy, Biofeedback, and more that are used in conjunction.
I have always had a genuine interest in the uniqueness and well-being of others. I believe that we can all grow from the situations we have experienced. Whether that experience be divorce, abuse, addiction, or trauma of some sort. Our brains & bodies have a way of healing themselves through processing. Certain experiences can cause us to feel alone, anxious, sad, depressed, unmotivated, angry, violated, exposed, and at times emotionally unstable. Here in therapy I walk the journey with you as we work through emotions, gain insight, and create more beneficial perspectives. I provide a space of safety, understanding, and compassion.

I am a registered art therapist through the national Art Therapy Credentials Board.
Life is messy and turbulent. Sometimes we can’t find the right words to express our inner experiences. I utilize experiential and developmentally appropriate interventions to join clients in navigating the storms until we reach steady waters and clearer skies. Through art making and play, we process what we may not have the vocabulary to discuss yet.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Art Therapy (when requested) are the primarily modalities that I use.
There should always be hope, and you shouldn’t have to suffer alone! No matter what you are facing, I believe that together we can find a solution! We all face difficulty, but it is important to remember that the way you feel is only temporary! It is only a matter of time before the sun comes out after a storm. While life can be challenging at times, having a skilled professional to "walk along-side you" to support, encourage, and provide concrete solutions can make it easier.

Life is full of inevitable difficulties, and how you approach them matters. In sessions, I work to provide a supportive environment where you can feel safe to untangle your thoughts and feelings. As I work alongside you, I aim to use feedback, honesty, compassion, empathy, and humor to help you find healing and a better understanding of yourself. I apply my cultural background, education, and experiences with trauma-informed care to create my own unique philosophy in helping others; the main pillar of that philosophy being self-awareness.

Additionally, I use Mindfulness, Polyvagual Theory, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, and Art Therapy to help confront and let go of our experiences in a healthy way.
Do you feel stuck in the trauma & feel broken? Are your symptoms not resolving through traditional talk therapy? Are you interested in the healing powers of plant & psychedelic medicine? When the ceremony closes the journey begins, transformational healing happens on a soul level, let’s integrate. Life certainly has a way of presenting what can feel like insurmountable challenges that distract us from our true nature. When we hit rock bottom it creates a crack for our greatness to flood through though often the pain of breaking distracts us in an unbearable way. Together we'll mend those cracks with gold.

Whether it's art therapy, talk therapy, DBT, CBT, individual therapy or family therapy, I am here to create a nonjudgemental space for you to process all that you may be dealing with right now.
I look forward to helping you with anxiety, depression, abuse, trauma, narcissistic abuse and the stress that life can throw at us! Sometimes, the story that we want to tell can be incredibly difficult to discuss or process. If you have anxiety, difficulty talking, or want to try something new, art therapy is perfect for you to come in and say as much or as little as you want and still receive the treatment and care you deserve. Many times, we struggle to find the words to describe certain emotions or events that have occurred. Art therapy can also help us discover things that we could not process only through talking.

I am a play therapist and love to infuse art and play throughout the lifespan.
My clients are often suffering from anxiety, depression, and struggles with self-worth. Building resiliency and distress tolerance are the first steps, increasing comfort with uncomfortable emotions and body signals. Once a client has skills to self-soothe, we can st art digging deeper into issues of trauma, attachment wounds, and injuries stemming from family of origin. Identifying and challenging self-limiting beliefs, building self-love through exploration, discovery, and radical acceptance of self are some of the things we may work on.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
