Making changes is hard. This is true whether you are exhausted and know something needs to change, are considering taking a stand against depression or anxiety, or are navigating through a major life transition: the birth of a child, the loss of a loved one, the ending or beginning of a relationship, starting or changing a career. You don't need to do it alone. Feel like yourself again; our counselors can help.

I specialize in EMDR trauma therapy, Somatic modalities, Mindfulness, Compassionate Inquiry, trauma informed yoga, and emotionally focussed approaches.
My name is Jacie Vanderloo. I am a licensed clinician (LPCC) in the state of Colorado, under the supervision of Rachel Firneno MS, LPC, NCC. I believe that wholeness and healing is something every human being is capable of experiencing. It might look different than we expect, but I believe it is part of our nature. Starting therapy is incredibly courageous, and one of the best parts is that we do not have to find healing on our own. I hope to be the kind of therapist that honors where each individual is at on this adventure of being alive.

We harness sustainable, long-term relief and growth through the dismantling of outdated core beliefs, practice of self-compassion as radical resistance, somatic/nervous system regulation, creative expression, and coping skills development.
We all have the innate capacity to reclaim our story, unlearn, and step into our most authentic self. I work with adults, teens, and LGBTQ+ who are learning to embrace their whole selves, level up, and heal through their experiences of depression, grief, anxiety, life transitions, relationship struggles, etc. I am particularly passionate about serving queer folks with varying concerns, and men wanting to develop their emotional intelligence while healing intergenerational trauma. For trans clients, I follow WPATH standards for letters of support for gender-affirming surgery.

I draw from attachment and somatic focused approaches and enjoy working with creativity in narrative, feminist, IFS and relational cultural interventions.
When we experience hardship without community support, we learn to defend against emotions that would be simply too much to hold alone. I identify as a pansexual genderqueer woman and I honor therapy as a space where all of our identities are important. I work with the nervous system and show up as my real, genuine self. My clients typically come to therapy when their defenses hold them back from loving relationships or a fulfilling life.

The best therapeutic fit is a client who is ready to go deep, surrender to the process, be challenged, undergo somatic interventions, and commit to growth of the mind, body, and soul. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, inner child work, and communication issues with adults seeking individual therapy in a virtual setting. The best results are exhibited by clients who are ready, trusting, willing to do the work, and are honest about how they feel. Egos will be stripped, laughs will be shared, techniques will be learned. Oh and there's always homework.

My approach is informed by Mindfulness, Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Attachment, Nutrition, and Evolutionary Psychology.
Psychology is derived from the Greek words psyche; meaning soul, and logos; meaning knowledge. Considering this, I see therapy as the brave journey of knowing yourself and your life more deeply. As a therapist, I offer a genuine optimism and non-judgmental space for you to feel seen, heard, and met with kindness. You are provided guidance and skills that equip you to guide your nervous system and mind back to health. We won't go anywhere in therapy that you are not prepared to go. Sessions feel restorative, empowering, and practical. You can feel better at your own pace. And it is a real privilege to support you along the way.

Drawing from a compassion-focused lens, a systems-based perspective, and a strengths-based approach, I tailor my methods to meet your needs, I often incorporate somatic techniques to enhance our work together.
Hello and welcome! The human journey is inevitably messy at times. Despite the chaotic and confusing, there is always beauty to be discovered. I believe that every individual is deserving of connection, compassion, healing, and growth - even you! Sometimes it's hard to believe this for ourselves - oftentimes it's even more difficult to know where to start. It may be relieving to hear that you already have the resources within you waiting to be accessed. My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that creating a safe space for authenticity and collaboration will help us to explore and navigate your unique path to healing.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?

In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?

The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?

An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?

It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?

HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?

Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?

Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?

Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling.
