Here at the Circles of Resilience Counseling Center, we understand there are a multitude of stressors, obstacles, or challenges that can fall outside our “Circle of Control”. Throughout this journey called “Life” many of us find ourselves functioning in “Survival mode” in need of some tools to help navigate the expedition of life.

Life leads to many instances where we feel overwhelmed, depleted, and in need of support. Maybe it is a life transition such as starting a new job, parenting, dealing with illness or the loss of a loved one, having an experience that left you scared or, perhaps something else. As people, we have the ability to heal, grow and transform our lives. Many times the path of healing feels stressful and is easier with the support of a counselor. Despite what our society often tells us; we do not have to bear this weight on our own and I am happy to help.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and work with children of all ages, adolescents, adults, and families, and am currently accepting new clients. I approach therapy from a warm and relational framework and believe that therapy is about exploring patterns and looking within. These processes lead to heightened self-awareness and understanding, which break cycles and create lasting change.

Your child isn't talking to you like they used to. They're crying or shouting more. Maybe they're struggling with being mean to or withdrawing from family and friends. Has your child experienced a life disturbing event that seems to have made things more difficult for them? Is what's going on for your child confusing or even scaring you? Certainly it's painful for both you and your child. You're wondering if your child needs therapy, but you don't know if they'll talk to a therapist. You've heard of play therapy and wonder if it works.

Setbacks are not failures but questions asked of our own desire. Finding the way forward sometimes means exiting first through the back door of the symptom. You may yield to your symptom in order to suffer less (or more), or resist it the way you resist scratching that itch that won’t ever keep you from scratching it again, or you can anesthetize it or otherwise exist while it is simultaneously taking up space within you, speaking with your own body, killing your own time. But you can’t really live with your symptom, can you? In analysis the symptom becomes a most singular path to the peculiarity of your own unprecedented being.

If you wonder if your child has ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, or another learning disability, we can help with expert testing. Or if your child shows signs of giftedness and you want to enroll them in a gifted program or school, we provide IQ testing to help with this.
