I specialize in working with young adults and college/grad students with anxiety disorders, OCD, perfectionism, skin picking, trauma, relational issues, and depression. My ultimate goal in therapy is to support clients in taking back the power from their distress in order to ultimately live more fulfilling lives and spend more time on the things that are important. In this process, I aim to help clients explore and address the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are associated with distress and keep clients “stuck.”

I understand how restricting and potentially debilitating anxiety and OCD can be.
I am a therapist at Anxiety Solutions of Denver specializing in anxiety and OCD treatment. My clients often come to me exhausted and frustrated by the suffering anxiety disorders and OCD can entail. They not only want to be listened to and understood, but want a specialized professional to guide them in exactly what they can do to achieve long-term relief. The treatment my colleagues and I provide is considered the gold-standard approach for anxiety disorders and OCD. If you are looking to break free from the grips of these disorders in pursuit of a more free, fulfilling, and meaningful life, we are here to help.

In therapy this means combining an essential foundation of authentic rapport and unconditional positive regard with the expertise to apply psychological science (including CBT, ACT, EMDR, DBT, ERP) to address specific mental health concerns (including OCD, panic/anxiety, depression, trauma).
I know how difficult the search for a therapist can be. It feels like there's a lot riding on making the right choice, but there's so much uncertainty about what the right choice even entails. Of course you want a professional who seems qualified to address your specific areas of struggle, but it seems to me that the most healing aspect of therapy is the experience of feeling comfortable enough to be radically open with a therapist who you perceive to be compassionate, nonjudgmental, and real. Try to find someone you feel you can click with on an authentic human level; otherwise, it's likely to feel transactional and limiting.

I have have a lot of experience with anxiety, depression and OCD, as well as helping people with big life changes, self esteem, and relationship issues. Everybody is different, so in working together I will listen to you and what you need from me to help you the best. A big reason I decided to become a therapist due to the belief that if people are more connected and insightful about themselves—and how they impact the world—the world itself will become a better place.

My career in OCD treatment began at the first OCD-specific residential treatment center, the OCD Institute at McLean Hospital, of Harvard Medical School.
Do repetitive thoughts or habits preoccupy you, consume valuable time, or alienate you from others? If so, you may have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, or OCD. If you have questions about OCD or its treatment - for yourself or someone you know - please contact me. I have specialized in helping people with OCD since 2002. OCD 'triggers' are often more severe in someone's home environment, and symptoms can make it especially difficult to attend outside appointments, so I work with people in their own homes and communities in addition to meetings at my office.

I work with issues ranging from children/teens who have experienced trauma, attachment issues, anxiety (including Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, separation anxiety, and generalized worries), and emotional dysregulation.
Are you looking for a therapist who can help your child or teenager learn to manage their emotions instead of engaging in all-out temper tantrums? As a caregiver, are you wondering what the best approach is to manage these difficult moments and to deepen your relationship with your child at the same time? In a therapy session with me, your child will learn techniques to encourage self-awareness in order to prevent acting-out behavior and you will learn strategies to support your child on this journey. A typical therapy session may include play therapy, yoga poses, breathwork, and/or creative arts.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
