Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years in marketing, where I noticed the struggle to access quality mental health care. This gap inspired me to switch careers and help close it. My interests also include the mental health impacts of COVID and chronic illness. I’m actively involved in research in these areas and love seeing people build confidence and feel better. Specialized care for OCD is often hard to find, I'm excited to work with NOCD to provide this need. At NOCD, my team and I focus on evidence-based treatment for OCD, supported by our intensive training in ERP—the gold standard for OCD treatment.

I have always loved hearing and telling stories. I believe they are key to appreciating the vast depth of our beautifully imperfect individuality. I acquired my BA in theatre and music, and have worked in professional performance for over 12 years. All my life, I have felt called upon to help others appreciate the inherent worth of their stories. It is my goal to help you feel enveloped in empathy in order to feel heard, valued, and safe in expressing yourself and your feelings as you tell, and sometimes rewrite your own story. I work with adults and adolescents, performing artists, gamers, and individuals with chronic pain.

I currently serve clients virtually and in-person in Colorado and virtually from Florida. Therapy is about helping you, the client, be the best version of who you want to be, at whatever stage you’re in. We work together to help you identify and choose what you want and need in your life, and empower you to work through the things that are preventing you from being there. “The things” could be anything causing difficulty for you or keeping you "stuck". I can help you see beyond what has been or what is, to what can be.

I am an easy-going person who uses a lot of humor in session. I have a big dog in my office most of the time, who is a trained and certified therapy dog. My ideal client is someone who is motivated to improve their life and is in it for the long haul. A lot of my clients are struggling to figure out who they are or why they're struggling so much and I encourage people to give themselves permission to not have it all figured out. I try my best to make therapy enjoyable but don't get me wrong; you will definitely grow in the process. I have a team of therapists in my practice so regardless of what you're looking for we've got you.

Are you tired of feeling like your mind won't quiet down, always overthinking and dealing with overwhelming anxiety that stops you from fully savoring life? Do you struggle to form meaningful relationships, navigate intimacy, and fully express your emotions? Maybe you'd like to understand patterns that are no longer working for you and how they developed. Maybe you suspect that it's possible to navigate life with more clarity and ease, but you're not sure where to begin.

I approach therapy with warmth, curiosity, and commitment to your mental health journey. This feels like a holistic and person-centered approach that explores bodily consciousness, emotional processing, belief systems, social supports, cultural upbringing, and past trauma. You can also expect to develop practical tools for managing stress and building resilience as well. Above all, therapy should leave you feeling empowered, capable, and heard. My goal is to foster a safe environment where you feel free to open up without fear of judgement and the accountability to progress towards your goals, both within and beyond our sessions.

Healing is like the tide. I help people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, loss, identity, and more. Like the tide, as healing and growth take hold in us, they can sometimes appear to recede—but then they advance even further. I walk alongside people moving into their best visions of themselves. Cracks are how the light gets in.

Hoarding Therapists

What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?

Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.

How long does therapy for hoarding take?

Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.

Are there medications for hoarding?

The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.

Can hoarding come back after treatment?

Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
