Do repetitive thoughts or habits preoccupy you, consume valuable time, or
alienate you from others? If so, you may have Obsessive-Compulsive
Disorder, or OCD. If you have questions about OCD or its treatment - for yourself or someone you know - please contact me. I have specialized in
helping people with OCD since 2002. OCD 'triggers' are often more severe in someone's home environment, and symptoms can make it especially difficult to attend outside appointments, so I work with people in their own homes and communities in addition to meetings at my office.

Tired of hurting yourself and others? Ready for a change? I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families to overcome obstacles and barriers that prevent living a life of true fulfillment and satisfaction. From my own personal life experiences, I know how hard it is to prioritize yourself and ask for help before things become unmanageable.

My name is McKay Johnsen and I am a therapist who works with others to define and pursue meaning and paths forward throughout the therapeutic relationship. The human-to-human relationship is the most important aspect of any therapeutic relationship. Everyone has the rock bottoms and the dreaded low points at times, some more frequent than others, and it is in these moments that we seek out our most precious memories and experiences and draw upon the love we have felt from others to garner hope for a future with more light to come. I strive to be one of these lights in the minds and eyes of my clients for when they have these moments

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years experience, I fully appreciate the importance of finding the right match with a therapist who can offer a compassionate and professional approach to navigating life's challenges. I embrace what may be very painful difficulties as opportunities for positive growth and problem solving, while holding sacred the courage and curiosity it takes to embark upon a very personal therapeutic journey.

In an increasingly isolated world, there is support in the parts of life that cause us suffering. Life is complex. When the hard stuff gets in the way of us feeling connected, fulfilled, and like our path has meaning, therapy can help. Whether its enhancing your understanding of yourself, deciding what you want to invite (or disinvite) into your live, (re)defining your beliefs and values, or reigniting your wild intimacy with yourself and others, our sessions create room for you to be seen, heard, and move toward growth which honors your most authentic self.

Everyone wants a space where they can be real and vulnerable. I create such a space where there is room for laughter, swearing, tears, and whatever else you carry with you. It all belongs here. I want to be here for you, no matter where you are. I believe the most powerful therapeutic modality is the relationship between clinician and client and I will strive to make sure that our relationship is genuine, authentic and honest.

I chose to become a mental health professional to better the lives of others through compassion and providing a safe space for self-expression. Life can get crazy and psychological stress is real. I want you to work closely with you to resolve past traumas, improve habits, and progress toward overall emotional wellbeing.

When you change not WHAT you experience, but HOW you experience, you can transcend, you can become a different self. As a therapist I help clients study how they create meaning and feelings out of events, that is, how you organize your experiences. I strive to combine the evidence-based practices of Western psychotherapy with the wisdom and compassion of Eastern psychology. I use mindfulness based practices and I am EMDR trained. I work with adults, adolescents, and couples. I specialize in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy, ADHD, anxiety, codependency issues, grief, and relationship issues. I also supervise LPCC's.

Transitions are part of life, and yet some feel overwhelming. At such times, you may need a community to walk alongside you. In reaching out, you have taken that first courageous step toward healing. Together we will explore how you might get back on track, or perhaps forge a new path. Through compassionate exploration of your strengths, you may find it is possible to find your footing. I specialize in adults from all walks of life and challenges that any stage may present, such as anxiety, depression, dual diagnoses, life transitions, parenting, relational challenges, somatic, spirituality, trauma-focused, women's issues, and more.

I believe that we all have an important story to tell. While opening up may feel frightening, telling your story in a supportive environment with a skilled therapist can lead to more self-compassion, improved relationships, and an increasingly fulfilling life. I work with young individuals who are ready to dive deep to explore their life story in order to better understand themselves and their thoughts and feelings. Clients report feeling safe and unconditionally held in our work together.

Life will inevitably bring up intense emotions and feelings: shame, fear, confusion, etc. Overwhelming pressure, life transitions, past trauma, or simply the burden of daily stressors can pile on you until it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. When overwhelmed, you may find it relatively impossible to maintain close relationships with family, friends, and significant others. This can create a vicious cycle of anxiety, isolation, and hopelessness. It can feel like you have no way out of this bleak season.
