Hey there! Have your fights with your partner become predictable and routine, and you start thinking, "here we go again"? Are you feeling disconnected, misunderstood, anxious, overwhelmed, unheard, unseen, or like you can't live up to their expectations? I'm here to help. I enjoy helping couples dig underneath the surface to understand and express those underlying feelings and needs, which can help you feel more connected to one another. We'll work on communication and conflict navigation skills, too. I also offer individual work in areas such as anxiety, perfectionism, relational issues, life transitions, and boundary setting.

Hi there! I operate strongly with the belief that kindness and care for others goes a long way. I enjoy connecting with and helping others regardless of our differences. I am passionate about working with both teens and adults to help them process trauma and come into their own as individuals, although I work with a variety of mental health issues. As an artist, I am especially passionate about using art as healing. Art can create a strong container for difficult emotions, and I believe you don’t have to be an artist to benefit from the power of art making!

Navigating the world can be filled with complexity. There are internal and external struggles that we all deal with on the daily. Sometimes we don’t have access to all our available resources in body, mind, and spirit for one reason or another. Despite our best efforts to tackle these challenges on our own, we can get cut off from ourselves, our partners, our family, and/or our communities. Do you want to feel connected, heard and supported? Do you need a place that you can feel safe and just be yourself? Sometimes it’s hard to be honest with ourselves and confront the things that scare us. Sometimes we need someone to help.

I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and couples from all different backgrounds, across race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, and ability. I have particular empathy and compassion for any client who feels their path in life has not followed that of the majority or who have felt marginalized in some way. I also have extensive experience in working with adolescents and adults in the LGBTQ community in therapy. I believe therapy should be collaborative between myself and clients - I bring education and training to our therapy and you bring the most expertise on yourself.

Do thoughts of past mistakes or whether someone is mad at you keep you up at night? Do you feel overwhelmed by the need to keep everyone happy? It's common for people to have difficulty speaking up, setting boundaries, and managing conflict due to feelings of guilt, anxiety, and fear. I work best with clients that might call themselves a "people pleaser" or believe it is their job to keep the peace. Difficulties with self worth oftentimes connects to these struggles and together we can work on how to use self compassion to combat the need for external validation to feel worthy.

The therapeutic process can be scary and vulnerable. My hope is that we can navigate it together so that you feel completely supported as you strive to find more balance and fulfillment in your life. My favorite part of being a Clinical Psychologist is getting to observe people discover better, truer versions of themselves as they heal old wounds and build skill and confidence. I am an extroverted, curious person by nature who loves to laugh, explore, take risks, get deep, and connect. Therapy has been a natural fit!

Cognitive Processing (CPT) Therapists

How does cognitive processing therapy work?

A CPT therapist helps a client evaluate their thoughts about the trauma they experienced, focusing on maladaptive or self-blaming thoughts that can exacerbate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression. The therapist will work with a client to help them learn to challenge such thoughts and consider different perspectives. The therapist is also likely to ask a client to work on these techniques at home between meetings, such as writing an account of their trauma that can be read aloud during a future session.

What is cognitive processing therapy for PTSD?

Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy primarily used in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to treat individuals who experienced abuse or violence, who survived natural disasters, who were first responders to such incidents, or who otherwise experienced trauma.

How long does cognitive processing therapy last?

CPT is a short-term therapy. Whether conducted one-on-one or in a group, a complete set of CPT sessions typically includes 12 weekly sessions, along with tasks for clients to complete at home, although this can vary depending on a client’s needs or a therapist’s particular treatment plan. Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes.

How effective is cognitive processing therapy?

A large body of research supports the use of CPT to treat people experiencing PTSD, finding it to be effective among different age groups, either in one-on-one therapy sessions or in a group therapy environment. Research suggests that although the initial sessions may be difficult, clients tend to begin to feel positive progress after the first few sessions, and that the benefits tend to last well after the therapy ends.
