I specialize in helping people understand themselves by finding an accurate diagnosis through psychological evaluations. This leads to an explanation of their experiences. Evaluations help unlock awareness of your true self and your deepest gifts. I enjoy working with people who feel like outsiders and who may identify as neurodivergent. This can be people who are quirky and may wonder about giftedness, autism, ADHD, sensory sensitivities, being highly sensitive, having tics, or who have gender or cultural issues that make them feel like they never quite fit in. I also evaluate for anxiety, mood and other issues.

I am particularly passionate about supporting people living with substance use concerns, ADHD, PTSD, depression, and anxiety—as well as those who are part of the criminal justice system.
Finding yourself in destructive patterns and using unhelpful behaviors to cope can make you feel isolated and alone. Knowing you are different from others and wondering how to navigate everyday situations is exhausting and debilitating. Being neurodivergent in a world built for neurotypical people can lead to depression, anxiety, trauma, burnout, and substance use just to name a few. With the weight of everything all at once you can feel trapped and hopeless. No matter what you are struggling with, you deserve to be fiercely advocated for and supported in a way that honors your unique humanness.

My wide range of clinical experience has focused on issues surrounding ADHD, eating disorders, mood disorders, alcohol use disorders and relational issues.
I have a very deep respect for your interest in seeking therapy. It is an honest and brave way to move towards growth. One of my favorite quotes is by Carl Jung: "who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes." Our sessions will be a collaborative exploration of your physical state, thoughts, and emotions to help you find some clarity, direction and healing. I aim for change to be deeper than our thoughts. It needs to be felt and integrated. I use Polyvagal theory and EFT/Tapping to inform the psychological work that we will embark on together.

Making the decision to look on this website for a therapist is a big step. I respect and value your commitment to yourself. It can be hard to do something good for yourself, to take up space instead of always giving it away. I work with clients who are working on increasing their self-esteem, who are interested in exploring their identity, values, and needs. I work with clients who have been impacted by that pestering anxiety, depression, or eating disorder voice! I know it's really tough to be louder than that voice! I work with kids, teens, and adults who are figuring out how to cope with ADHD or other learning differences!

Navigating trauma, anxiety, ADHD, neurodivergence, or women's health issues can present unique challenges. You might experience flashbacks, hyperarousal, and avoidance behaviors that are impacting your relationships with others or your ability to fully engage in your life. You might also face social hurdles, sensory difficulties, and trouble with getting day to day tasks around you done. Often you might be feeling isolated or misunderstood by others. You've been looking for someone who just gets you and allows you the space to come to session and be who you genuinely are, or who you want to be.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
