We emphasize Dialectical & Cognitive Behavior Therapy (DBT/CBT), but often integrate Positive Psychology, Family Systems Therapy, Psychodynamic therapy and Relational Psychology.
Our clinical focus is a "hybrid" approach combining Dialectical and Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Relational/Experiential therapy, primarily for the adolescent and emerging adult, but also working with adults, families and couples. Our clients struggle with regulating emotions, distress tolerance, core emptiness (confusion about oneself), as well as interpersonal conflict with frequent emotional chaos. Our time-limited, solution-focused technique is often sought to augment a person's existing individual therapy. Our approach is also effective in treating depression, self-injury, anxiety - focusing on coping skills. We are comprised of 4 licensed clinicians offering both individual, couple and group therapy.

I am a psychodynamic therapist, but I don’t believe you need to be in therapy for the rest of your life.
Life can be tough sometimes, and so are you. We all go through difficult situations in our lives and while you may have navigated through those challenges, there’s nothing wrong with seeking extra support when you need it. I have an open and diverse approach to therapy and offer a fresh perspective with my non-judgmental, humurous, and supportive style in my engaging, client-centered practice. I have years of experience treating depression, anxiety, and borderline personality disorders, and I take the time needed to build a trusting relationship to ensure we are meeting your specific needs and goals.

We all have patterns of thoughts, behaviors and emotions that keep us trapped. Some of us may be stuck in a downward spiral of depression, anxiety and mood disturbance. Others create walls to keep themselves safe but ultimately shut out those they care about or are left feeling distant from themselves. Many of us find ourselves trapped on a hamster wheel, challenged to slow down or get off. Still others find themselves recreating familiar, unfulfilling dynamics with loved ones or colleagues. We'll work together to understand these dynamics, set goals for how you'd like to change and help you create a more fulfilling, balanced life.

If you are feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, unmotivated, anxious, distracted, or just as though your life or your journey are no longer quite as clear, then why not take some time out just for you? Therapy is a space to do that, to really learn more about who you have been, who you are now, and to find a way towards who you want to become. It can feel unusual, scary, or even confusing to try to turn inward and see what's there, but having a nonjudgmental support along with you for that journey can help you to learn how to truly see yourself with compassion, curiosity, and joy.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
