I utilize evidence based interventions (ACT, CBT, DBT) and interpersonal work to help each patient achieve their unique goals.
Welcome! Patients often come to me when they are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or struggling to find motivation. Some may be seeking healing from a trauma or loss. Others may be adjusting to a new role in life. The causes vary but the goal is the same - to feel more at peace internally. My work with patients is collaborative, curious, and focuses on deepening your understanding of yourself and rebuilding trust in your body. I believe strongly in the mind-body connection. My goal for patients is to walk away from each session with a new understanding of themselves and specific tools to use in their lives.

I use CBT, DBT, ACT, and Solution-Focused approaches.
It can feel really isolating to struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and/or addiction. As if those struggles aren't enough, it can be challenging to connect with people who understand that experience without judgement and can offer appropriate support. Sometimes we just need to talk through our experience to gain more insight. Or maybe we just need to learn some additional communication, boundary, conflict resolution, emotional regulation, coping and mindfulness tools in order to better manage what we’re struggling with.

I specialize in trauma work with advanced training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and mindfulness-based therapies including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Has the world been feeling overwhelming lately? I feel it too, and I don’t know how you wouldn’t be feeling anxious or falling into a depression spiral at times. This means you're human, you’re feeling things and you’re trying your best. I can help you with the extra support you need right now and teach you how to be there for yourself in the midst of huge challenges. My clients often come to me saying that they beat themselves up for feeling bad, adding insult to injury, and they find relief once we are able to shift this process towards more self-love and acceptance.

I use CBT, EMDR, DBT, IFS and Mindfulness -I promise those letters are not just mumble jumble, but specialized approaches that help heal anxiety, trauma, and depression.
Feelings are meant to be felt. Even the hard ones like anxiety, sadness, loneliness, irritability, and overwhelm are normal and healthy. But sometimes we can find ourselves feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure about how to move forward. Therapy can teach us skills to acknowledge, befriend, move through, and release difficult feelings. I would be honored to provide you with support, insight, and a path to find your inner resilience. Together, we can process the hard stuff that creates anxiety, insecurity, relationship problems, and mood difficulties, and lead to your discovery and growth.

The process of finding and establishing a therapeutic relationship can feel overwhelming and vulnerable. Many people identify the desire or motivation for self-improvement but don't know where to start. This may look like maladaptive coping skills, substance use, relationship stress, or struggling with significant depressive symptoms. Together we will explore this and establish a plan to move forward.

You feel stuck between being true to yourself and losing or disappointing those you love. You are tired of feeling invisible or alone. You feel anxious, might never have felt good enough, are burned out, and fear you won’t ever get to live a life you want to be living. You are tired of fitting into the box of who you are supposed to be and want to know, or be, who you really are. You long to feel more free, confident, secure, able to make decisions, and able to reach for your dreams or have a life you feel good in.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
