I have over 15 years of experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal relationships. I believe everyone already has the wisdom inside to heal but sometimes layers of trauma or pain can make it difficult to do so, and often causes symptoms such as anxiety and depression. I work with you to process traumas that can block the feeling of safety, content and happiness inside. I am trained in EMDR (an evidence based trauma therapy tool) that is used to process and heal traumas so that the system can rest and no longer has to fight to protect against the pain, fear, and emotions.

As a trauma and relationship therapist, I can help you get unstuck in those negative patterns.
Finding the right words at the right time in relationships is tricky. Sometimes in the middle of an argument, when it matters most, words just aren’t there or they come out all wrong. You may find yourself freezing in panic or leaving the room to prevent saying something you don’t mean. Sometimes, the fear of repeating past experiences paralyzes and it’s really hard to imagine ever getting past those memories. For some, you might be on the other side of the argument, saying things out of exasperation that you regret later on. Relationships are hard! And it's painful getting stuck.

I am a trauma- informed Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist with over a decade of experience working with relational and family dynamics.
Hello! Thank you for your interest in my practice. People who typically seek out somatic therapy are those who are interested in the body/ mind connection. Becoming more aware of your present moment experience can help alleviate negative thought patterns, trauma responses, and relieve anxiety and depression. Somatic therapy can help you cultivate deeper self-awareness and help you stop negative cycles and release trauma that is stuck in the body. If you experience anxiety or depression somatic therapy, EMDR, and breathwork can help release old patterns that are no longer serving you.

If you suffer with anxiety or are dealing with past traumatic events, you know how much it can get in the way of living a full, meaningful life; feeling connected with others; and achieving your goals. You don’t have to suffer alone. Working with an empathetic professional in a collaborative, trusting environment, you can learn ways to move beyond what seem like insurmountable barriers. I’ve helped countless people to overcome their struggles with anxiety and trauma to live more meaningful lives, in ways that they never thought they’d be brave enough to accomplish.

As a play therapist and family therapist, I believe that healing is a family affair, and, I include parents as an integral part of their child's therapy. I specialize in trauma, attachment, adoption, blended families, difficult and severe behaviors, as well as parenting, and issues stemming from any and all of the above. I love working with children and their parents and families. Children seem to have an innate sense of what is going on and what needs to happen in order for healing to occur, and, when they are able to express that and be heard, the whole family can shift and change.

I want you to know that therapy isn't just where you learn to “deal with” depression, anxiety, or PTSD, but for those who are ready, therapy can provide real healing.
Are you tired of feeling stuck? Like things from your past are holding you back and keeping you from reaching your full potential? Are you ready to actually work through your "stuff"? To move past your past and step into the future you’ve always dreamed about? You might already know exactly which trauma(s) you want to work on. Maybe you're not sure where exactly your current issues stem from but there are things from your past you've never really dealt with. Or maybe you feel like “trauma” is too strong a word, but you know certain things you experienced growing up have had a lasting impact on your self-esteem and relationships.

As a survivor of complex trauma, I understand the daily heaviness that comes with holding so much.
Do you feel stuck in an endless cycle of perfectionism and people-pleasing? Do you find you can’t get away from your own inner criticism, no matter what you do? Perhaps you’ve experienced anxiety from a young age and struggle to find relationships where you feel valued. When you’ve lived a certain way for so long, it can feel like change is impossible. But there’s a part of you that is a rebel, a cycle-breaker. It envisions a life filled with confidence, self-worth, and trusting healthy relationships. My goal is to help you bring this vision to life.

Connection is one of the most powerful forms of healing. Whether you are feeling isolated, stressed, or overwhelmed in your life, healing often begins with sharing the burden with another person. I work with people who hold intersecting identities and have experienced a wide range of concerns including trauma, PTSD, gender dysphoria, polyamory/CNM/ENM, depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. Are you struggling with the effects of trauma, grief, loss, or stigma or are your relationships struggling? What would your life be like a year from now if you were still struggling without improvement or attempting to heal? Wouldn’t it be better to start the healing process now? How might your life be better?

I primarily work with high trauma populations, favoring working with adults; however, my experience includes working with marginalized populations who have experienced trauma, children who have been trafficked, soldiers, and engaging in systems work consulting.
Welcome to Ubuntu Wellness. I am so happy you are here! This is a space to heal, celebrate who you are, and discover where you would like to go. However, we live in a world that sometimes doesn’t "see you" – something that can wear on the mind and the spirit. Ubuntu Wellness is a space for people to come together within an environment where your comfort is paramount as we work together to explore personal and collective issues and what it means to move beyond trauma and anxiety “stuck points” in order to live fully.

Is that painful experience or worry stuck on repeat in your mind? Maybe it was a scary incident, negative comment, embarrassing moment or even a sports injury. Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
