I have a special interest in trauma work and anxiety.
Navigating this life is our greatest journey, and at times our biggest challenge. Asking for help, while difficult, can be the bravest and best way we support ourselves. No matter what obstacles you may be facing currently, you are not alone. During our time together, we will explore the patterns and stories that have been dominating your life and the systems around you. You are the expert of your lived experience, but sometimes it makes all the difference having assistance and guidance in changing the stories we are telling ourselves. Genuine connection is one of the most healing experiences.

I mainly work with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, adhd, body image concerns, and trauma.
My goal with my clients is to create a warm and welcoming environment where you can feel safe to explore stories left untold. I am passionate about meeting people where they are, giving them practical tools to help in the short-term, while simultaneously addressing the underlying core of the problem. I adjust my approach to therapy based of my clients needs, though primarily working through a person-centered, trauma-informed lens. By utilizing mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy, and body neutrality I intend to help connect body, past and emotions to help find a strong sense of self.

I believe humans are beautifully complex beings with a mind, body, and spirit - to isolate healing to only one of these areas is to significantly limit potential growth. Are you experiencing anxiety that has not dissipated no matter how well you try to take care of yourself? Are you noticing that your relationships and career are not where you want them to be, but are struggling to know where to start to make changes? Maybe you are curious about how past challenges and trauma could be impacting you now, and want to break free from the hold that the past seems to have on you.

My style is rooted in trauma-informed, strengths-based models, and I aim to provide LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and culturally affirming services.
I believe that curiosity heals, that healing comes from approaching our lives with greater openness & non-judgement. I work with individuals and couples/intimate relationships impacted by trauma, relationship issues, chronic illness, grief, & identity exploration. Using a caring and direct approach, I support clients to gain deeper understanding, increase emotional regulation, & use more effective conflict management strategies. I believe that our world often makes it seem like we need to be fixed when really we need trust, connection, and tools to cultivate desired change within ourselves and our relationships.

I have years of prior experience in mental health, including my work at an inpatient center where I treated adolescents for depression, anxiety, other disorders, and guided patients through trauma processing and behavioral management.
Nobody is perfect, and often there are parts of ourselves we’d like to work on. Sometimes we need an outside perspective to help us figure out just how to work on those parts! Collaborating with a therapist isn’t always easy, but I understand just how impactful it can be to work with someone to effectively navigate the things we’d like to change in our lives. I aim to create a comforting space where we can work together on your priorities. I work with teens and adults. It can be easy to get stuck and weighed down by our emotions, but by processing them together, I can help you feel unstuck and lighter.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
