“Therapy to help authentic souls navigate the wilds of life.” My most crucial long-term relationship has been with the great outdoors; my first therapist was Mother Nature. I have used my time in this mighty space to align the things that make my heartbeat: people, nature, and the power of self-development. The outdoors is a powerful resource that helps us feel grounded and at peace, immersed in all Mother Nature offers. My approach is whole-bodied, holistic, mindful, bodily, and expansive. My goal for people is to feel good in their skin and reach their true SELF. I offer indoor, virtual, and outdoor therapy.

Life is (blank). How do you fill in the (blank)? We are all striving to feel heard, understood and connected, but all too often this business of being human – our personal histories and our entangled thinking – brings struggle and suffering. We can lose our purpose, passion and vision. We can feel unsteady, and disconnected from our true self. I can help. My counseling approach is not about discipline, hard work or grit. It is about stilling the mind, seeing clearly, removing barriers and realizing your innate capacity. Capacity for wisdom, love, and resiliency. Capacity to realize your full potential.

Many clients are in crisis and seeking assistance with a specific issue: Divorce, Grief, Addiction, Depression, Medical Diagnosis, Anxiety, or Life Transition. Therapy helps treat the turmoil that is the natural result of these issues. The skills developed during therapy help clients live full, happy and rich lives. Clients generally arrive with a specific personal crisis. I work in unison with clients to facilitate a deeper, richer, sense of identity. Each individual is held from a perspective of capability, competency, and resiliency, that bring about a sense of continuity and recognition of their authentic self.

Are you tense, jumpy or tearful, but not sure why? Do you have irritability, anxiety, depression, poor concentration, troubled sleep or flashbacks? Trauma—past or present—can affect many aspects of your life. I have specialized in treatment of survivors of childhood abuse or adult trauma for 20 years. I have found talk therapy is a start but if you have intrusive thoughts or images, intense emotional reactions, or loss of time, please consider Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy or Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS) therapy for additional relief.

Come, Come Whoever you are. Ours it not a caravan of despair. (Rumi) Many of us are looking for greater meaning and purpose in our lives. Often we look outside ourselves for answers instead of inwards, towards our own resilient hearts. For 26 years I've worked with people seeking support and more fulfillment in their lives and relationships. Whatever challenges you are facing, you don't have to do it alone. This is your time to awaken and to become the person you were meant to be.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
