I am a veteran who has over 25 years of clinical experience, working with children and adults in a variety of settings. I have worked with adults experiencing a wide range of challenges, to include anxiety, depression, and trauma. I can offer a none-judgmental setting where clients can feel safe to discuss any challenges they may be facing. You can also find me on SonderMind.

Area of Focus includes: Depression, Anxiety, Grief & Loss, Behavioral Disorders, PTSD, Parenting, Psychosis, and Childhood/Adult Trauma, all from a Trauma and Multicultural informed perspective.
Trauma is an interesting part of life, you are not expecting it, and you barely understand it. Now you are forced to deal with it. Or even to deal with many other Mental Health issues. I have experienced enough trauma, Grief and Loss, sadness, and Depression to last a lifetime, from childhood issues to adult issues. However, I had to build a team; you would call this team a support system, much like what you are doing by reading my profile. You want to build your (Team) Support system, and you are not alone. It is easy to fight your battles alone and to suffer in silence. I want you to know that you do not have to.

We have all experienced various levels of loss, harm or violation in our lives and this will have an effect on us. Are you experiencing disordered eating, unwanted sexual behavior, depression, anxiety, anger or turning to substances for relief? Often people feel a pain inside they are unable to understand or articulate. Perhaps you're frustrated and beginning to feel hopeless or helpless to change. Transformation and change is possible but it is a process, not an event. Research shows that finding the right "fit" in a therapist is one of the most important factors in having a transformative experience in therapy.

My clients say that I am a relaxed and accepting therapist, prepared to listen to them and respond to their concerns with insight and strategies for change. I operate from the understanding that our lives are an ongoing process of creation, some of which may fall outside of our usual awareness, but in which we may learn to take an effective, guiding role. Therapy works to identify and alter the motivations and misunderstandings which promote interpersonal conflicts and behavioral problems, and result in the experience of anxiety and depression in our daily lives.

Trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief are my specialties.
Unlovable. Unworthy. Not Good Enough. Out of Control. Exhausted. You look vibrant & happy from the outside, but really you’re just wanting to be accepted by others. The perfectionist part of you never gets the love from others that its always wanted. Fear of conflict makes it hard to say no. Why not just take on the blame for what others have done? At least you won't lose someone.. again. Disconnected from the present. Stuck in thoughts about the past or fears of the future. Haunted and wounded by words and memories. You have a dream for the future, but you're feeling trapped and unable to move forward. Ready to re-write the story?

I am a Licensed Social Worker, and am EMDR Certified. I enjoy utilizing a person’s strengths to help clients through their therapeutic journey. No client is the same, which is why there is “no one therapeutic modality fits everyone,” when it comes to my approach as a therapist. I currently work with adults 18 years and older. I have experience working with trauma, clients who have been sex trafficked, anxiety, life transitions, and grief and loss. My primary focus is working with clients who have experienced developmental or intergenerational trauma. My office hours are generally Monday-Friday 8-4.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
