In the journey of life, we encounter moments of joy, challenges, and everything in between. My role as your therapist is to offer a supportive hand as you navigate through these phases. Whether you're struggling with depression, anxiety, or facing significant life changes, know that you're not alone. Together, we will embark on a path towards healing and growth. Through a compassionate and non-judgmental space, we will explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. By gaining insights into your unique perspective, we'll work together to develop coping strategies, build resilience, and foster a sense of empowerment.

When you are struggling to move past conflicts or getting stuck in all-too-familiar patterns, there should be something so direct, personal, and real about what you discover and practice in therapy that it should dramatically change how you think, feel, and act with others. Therapy should captivate and transform you. That's my specialty. Yet, even though therapy is serious work, there should be room for play: for trying things on, for practice, for being human. As a couple and family therapist I care about the quality of your relationships. My approach? Connecting. Pragmatic. Thorough. Creative.

Are you someone who is in a committed relationship where you are co-existing but are struggling to deeply connect or work through conflict? Have you lived through a difficult challenge that has put stress on your family (i.e. loss of a parent or job, substance abuse problem, etc.)? Or are you a new parent and you’re having difficulty adjusting to the demands that come with this new life stage? You are not alone. And these are all issues and challenges that can be addressed in therapy where we explore your needs, identify your strengths, practice new skills, and work together towards your goals.

A SAFE PLACE…Where you can talk freely about what is troubling you. Where the various conflicting parts of you will be heard out, respected, and resolved. Where confusion finds its way to clarity, and heaviness to delight. Looking for a therapist that is a good fit can be a challenge. For therapy to be effective, you need: to feel safe enough to share what is really going on in your life; when you share, for you to feel heard, understood, and respected; for all parts of you and your dilemma to be honored; for the therapist to “get it”; for the process to make sense to you and the responses to be right for you.

Accepting new clients for morning and early afternoon appointment times. I look at everyone's individual healing journey through a collaborative lens focusing on mind & body. Our minds & bodies hold on to traumas, depression, anxiety, etc & store it. I will help you assess the true roots to your issues & walk the path of growth together. I do not believe in “cookie cutter” therapy methods, which is giving every client the same skills and treatment. Instead we get to know the client & personalize their treatment to fit their needs, wants, beliefs & life experiences.

Welcome! I’m Rachel, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who is fully trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). My goal is to create a safe and empowering space for my clients in order to build a positive relationship. As we continue to grow as individuals, we are constantly trying to identify and discover who we are and who we want to be. Our teenage and young adult years can be stressful and overwhelming to navigate with all of the different life changes that continue to happen, so it’s okay to be unsure of where to go next.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
