The influence of our surroundings makes a significant impact on what we believe and who we become. Sometimes, those around us share their opinions and expectations so freely that it silences our own needs and desires. Therapy is a place where your thoughts and feelings can be heard and understood- without the fear of judgment. I work with the intention of helping clients understand the past, so that they can live in the moment and find hope in the future. I will support you on the journey of self-discovery by providing insights as well as tangible tools to make the journey more enjoyable, even when it's tough.

When therapy works best, it's a collaboration between you and your therapist to discover how to make your best choices in life. My hope is to help you learn about YOU and what makes life fulfilling to you and then how to go for it! Therapy can help you change course when you keep making choices that don't make you happy. I help my clients learn to understand how their personal history and relationship patterns affect their decisions and overall wellness. Whether it's just to have someone truly listen or if it's to learn some specific skills to make different choices in life, I will provide a safe space for you to grow and heal.

Moving through life is like writing a book. We are all composing our own stories. Sometimes we get stuck, due to choices, events or behaviors. It’s like a bookmark getting put in the pages of our story and when we try to move forward, the pages fall open to that bookmarked, painful memory. With the help of therapy, we can heal from that pain and take the bookmark out of the book of our life. The pages remain, but they serve to make us stronger & wiser as we fill in the empty page before us today. By learning new skills and gaining the ability to adapt, we can move forward with a sense of purpose and peace.

I believe many of our deepest wounds are rooted in the context of relationships. Thus, the opportunity for healing is also found through relationship. Though potentially painful at times, the therapeutic process offers space for transformation and growth. Having another perspective can be helpful for navigating difficult emotions and life circumstances. I adopt a warm, depth-oriented approach and feel passionate about walking alongside individuals during difficult seasons.

Hello! Know that you are already whole and beautiful. Through courage, curiosity and compassion, you can begin to see this. Something has brought you here. Maybe you want to experience life in a new way, and you are not sure how to make that happen? Or somehow you know that you have not reached your potential? Maybe you want to experience a better version of yourself? Of relationships? Of life? Whatever the reason or reasons might be, I welcome you.

Is your teen experiencing hurt or confusion and you feel powerless as to how to help them? Do you feel disconnected from them and worry they don’t have an outlet for their pain? Is your daughter struggling with feelings of sadness and low self-esteem? Does she have trouble with nightmares, disturbed sleep, and excessive worry? Is your son in his room all the time, irritable and withdrawn? Are you worried he is using substances to manage his emotions? Being an adolescent is so tough and social media has made it even harder. I can help them understand their emotions and navigate through the stress of being a teenager.

I believe that the most important factor of success in therapy is the authentic relationship. I have a passion for learning about each client's talents and strengths and using those to increase their life satisfaction. I believe that all people have a desire to live the best lives they can live, and at times need support in identifying and eliminating the barriers that prevent them from doing so. I believe that trauma, whether from watching the daily news or experiencing combat in war, is at the root of many of these barriers.

I work with individuals who are struggling with their own trauma and triggers, esp while trying to parent their children more compassionately and consciously than they were parented. This trauma or trigger may look like high anxiety or big emotional responses. I love working with parents working on building joy and connection in their families by addressing the ways they can change their patterns of responding to triggering events or big feelings in themselves or those around them, like kids and partners.

Feeling/thinking that your coping skills no longer serve you, alone, out of control, helpless, hopeless, having trouble in your relationship, etc? I’d love to provide support to you, your family, you & your partner, or your child along the way while you work in concert to find the root of the “problem” that is manifesting itself in the symptoms that you're experiencing. I'm, to the utmost, passionate about helping people. I foster a safe environment that's entirely non-judgmental where you can feel free to express yourself. I truly believe that a healthy counseling relationship is instrumental in promoting growth and happiness.

With the amount of pressure and expectations that are placed on us on a daily basis, it can be overwhelming to think of what changes will actually make a difference for us. I view psychological distress as alarm bells telling us that our needs are not being met. You may find these alarms going off in multiple areas of life- work, school, relationships, etc. Beyond learning ways to cope with the alarm bells, my goal is to understand what those unmet needs are so that we can turn the alarms off. In my work, I aim to use therapy as a space to slow down and listen to what your symptoms are trying to communicate.

Just as trauma often happens in the context of relationship, so healing can happen in a trusting, therapeutic relationship. My experiences with the adoption triad, a high-control religious environment, and trauma have led me into this work after 25 years of raising my six children, by birth and adoption. In this, I developed a passion for helping people heal from, adjust to, and manage their traumatic life experiences and transition to healthy living. I work from a self-regulatory, attachment, processing, and connected perspective. I use an eclectic approach including EMDR, CBT, DBT, TBRI and psychoeducational approach.
