I offer EMDR and IASIS Neurofeedback for those needing to heal experiences impacting your nervous system.
Therapists need a safe space for healing too! You work hard to be effective and compassionate with your clients, and you know that your work is best when you take care of your own emotional needs. You may be facing burnout, your own trauma or life challenges or just the realization that “it’s time” to return to therapy. As therapists, it's our unique challenge to let ourselves relax and trust someone to take care of us in effective ways. You'll immediately feel supported in a non-judgmental and highly confidential space. I offer a safe place for healing with the therapist in mind.

I utilize evidence-based methods such as EMDR, IFS, mindfulness, and play in therapy as we work together to develop your emotional and mental self-reliance.
Life circumstances, relationships, mental and emotional health, etc. can change in an instant, which can throw us into moments of feeling stuck and helpless. This can feel heavy and cause you not to know how to get moving in a healthy direction again. I am here to help you in your stuck experiences whether they are feelings of anxiety, depression, relational issues, emotional triggers, or anything else you are mentally and/or emotionally struggling with.

Sometimes the unimaginable happens and our life comes crashing down around us. We suffer the loss of a much-loved baby. Relationships end. People close to us die. Our past starts to haunt us. We lose our sense of purpose. Grasping at ways to cope, we end up drinking too much or numbing in other ways. We end up feeling isolated and disconnected from the world around us. Life can really suck at times. These experiences will change us, but you don't need to suffer.

I am trained in EMDR and believe that it is an amazing modality to process and work through trauma and PTSD.
Hopelessness, anxiety, rage, confusion, shame, loss and depression are an overwhelming place to be. Experiencing those things can make us feel isolated and alone. We were not made to go through the hardest parts of life on our own. That’s where I come in. If you will allow me to walk alongside you we can find a place of healing and joy together.

I'm an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) clinician and Internal Family Systems (IFS) trained as well.
If you are able to recognize that there is a struggle that you cannot cope with alone, we should talk. You don't have to handle or "fix" it by yourself. Getting help shows strength, not weakness. You don't even have to know exactly what is wrong. Every human is unique, therefore we will work together on a specialized plan to discover how to get your needs met, help you feel better, and how to function in a more efficient, effective, and fulfilling way. Have hope, happiness is available. You just gotta be willing to work for it.

One tool we can use is a trauma specific method called EMDR to help past traumas become “unstuck” so that you can move forward in a more adaptive way.
If you are suffering in the present due to past hurts and traumas, or are currently feeling stuck due to depression, life transitions, and/or worry that prevents you from doing the things you want to do, there is hope. You can work through past hurts and current stressors to create the present and future you desire. In order to move forward and reach your goals, it’s helpful to have a non-judgmental, experienced, and supportive therapist beside you. I hope to be that person for you. We can work together to create a treatment approach that is specific to your needs.

After working with children and families for 15 years in foster care and adoption settings, I developed a passion for empowering people who have experienced trauma, grief and loss, and who struggle with relationship issues. Life always presents challenges and the ability to move through those challenges with a strong sense of self is important. I work closely with clients to develop a strong therapeutic relationship, which engenders an environment of safety and promotes healing. I am an EMDR Certified Clinician which integrates attachment theory, CBT and emotion regulation. I also use child-centered play therapy with children.

I offer traditional talk therapy and EMDR to help you navigate life's challenges.
It's hard for you to feel good about yourself sometimes. You see other people on social media and you think they are more fit, happier, and they have it all. You just wish you could...fill in the blank...then you would be able to enjoy your life. When I started my mental health practice in 2020, I had a clear vision: assist individuals struggling with self-confidence and self-worth. I specialize in working with people who are dealing with body image and food issues, as well as those who want to be more assertive in their relationships with parents, partners, and bosses.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
