As a queer, neurodivergent (AuDHD), cis, white, working class woman, I understand that we all exist on spectrums of experience, we all go through struggles that are interconnected, and we all have inherent power in our beings.
Whatever it is that you're holding, I'm here to hold it with you. With me, big feelings have a big enough space to be felt, expressed, and held with empathy and validation. We can't get rid of our pain, but we can learn to listen to our bodies and make more compassionate choices. I'm here to listen with you, to help you better understand and meet your needs, and to identify what can be accepted and what can change. I use a trauma-informed and holistic approach to get connected, get curious, and explore with people who want to get deeper insight into their unique support needs and superpowers.

We all face challenges as we move through life. These challenges can be magnified when we repeat old ways of coping that originally helped us deal with difficult situations, but no longer serve us. At times, we may not even be aware of these old habits. My job is to assist you in recognizing and understanding these outdated habits and in transforming them from automatic reactions into behaviors that are governed by conscious choices. Whether you are new to therapy or have had prior experience we will work together to meet your current challenges whether they revolve around work, relationships or major life transitions.

Your mind is often focused on what’s wrong or could go wrong. You feel exhausted and don’t know exactly why. You're a do-er who likes to take an active approach to problem-solving and struggles to tolerate when things are outside of your control. You can feel your jaw clenched, brow furrowed, or breath held as you read this. You've been through something hard or traumatic and you know that it isn't fully processed, but talking about it often leaves you feeling more depleted. If any of this resonates with you, know that these are universal, common human experiences. Somatic therapy can help you access a more fluid way forward.

People seek therapy for a variety of reasons. It could be because they are feeling sad or anxious, lacking in motivation, feeling unfulfilled, or having relationship problems. Maybe you are going through a life transition such as the loss of a loved one, an illness, or a divorce. There are many bumps and curves on the road of life.

Being a human in the world is both an inherently beautiful and painful process. Grief, loss and trauma shape the ways that we approach our daily lives, and sometimes the pain that accompanies these experiences becomes more than anyone can manage on their own. We develop coping strategies in an effort to safely navigate the world, and occasionally these coping strategies become problematic or no longer work for us. Change can be hard and it can be scary, but it can also be exciting and fulfilling; my hope is to help create space to access the range of experiences that arise through the therapeutic process.

Being a teen can be difficult and confusing and it is important to have a place that is their own as they navigate their individuation process and separate from their caregivers. Providing a space for preteen/teens to explore and feel supported and heard is a passion of mine. While my focus is with adolescents ages 13+, I also work with adults struggling with relationship issues, trauma, addiction, and emotional overwhelm such as depression and anxiety.

As your therapist, I'm confident you'll be able to find that therapy can feel both safe and approachable despite its inherent challenges, that it can bring about relief while providing opportunities for growth. I offer an inherently empathic, person-centered approach and utilize humanistic theory to inform my understanding of my client's. Post-traumatic stress, ongoing anxiety, low self-esteem, navigating disordered eating patterns, and issues in understanding our identity can overwhelm us - and I'm passionate about working with those grappling with one or more of these concerns.

I specialize in working with women who juggle it all but feel overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected or lonely.
It is exhausting to be a woman in our modern world. Trying to juggle motherhood, careers, partners, our health and everyday life leaves us stretched thin. If you feel lost in the shuffle of your own life, we can help you find a way back to yourself. We work our whole lives to achieve all we dreamed of, and are surprised when we feel anxious or empty. It can feel confusing to know there is something missing, but not know what or how to find it. My job is to help you figure out that something and how to feel like yourself again.

Do you feel dissatisfied with the quality of intimacy and connection in your relationship? Do you feel frustrated by a lack of sex and uncomfortable communicating your needs and desires? Do you worry if your relationship can sustain chronic disconnection and a lack of passion? It is quite common that, over time, due to stresses, habits, and communication obstacles, we create guarded adaptations of ourselves, hindering our ability to give and receive the connection and pleasure we long for and deserve.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
