To better understand who I am as therapist, it is important to know that I am a somatic informed therapist.
I love working with couples! A flourishing relationship gives us access to a more fulfilled life. When we feel seen, understood and supported...we thrive! In couples work, we better our skills in communication, vulnerability and emotional regulation...the result: more empathy, patience, forgiveness, tolerance and resiliency during painful anger, conflict and difference. It is my sole purpose to help individuals cultivate meaningful connection and trust within themselves and their partners. Don't let old stories and stuck behavior keep you from learning, expanding and healing. I do believe in hope and transformation!

I draw on my experiences in parts work, contemplative, somatic, Internal Family Systems, energy psychology, mindfulness, the visual arts, & as a mother to support & collaborate on your unique journey to recovery, integration, healing, celebration, & joy.
Would you like to set clear boundaries? Change persistent patterns that arise in relationships? Ease your heart’s longing to belong? Engage transitions thoughtfully and with empowerment? Embrace a greater sense of connection & well-being? Be more kindhearted with yourself & loved ones? Support your child living a more joyful life? These aspirations are natural, indicating a courageous readiness to reach a fuller potential and greater well-being. Adults express themselves through stories; children through play. Words & play activate the nervous & neural systems allowing access to emotions, thoughts, & sensations.

My therapeutic lens integrates modalities like mindfulness, somatic therapy, gestalt therapy, parts work, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Radical acceptance and meaningful connection are the backbones of my life and practice. I firmly believe each of us owns unique parts of ourselves that not only make us different but also make us capable. Sometimes a tree must twist and bend to reach the light it needs; just because its growth looks different doesn’t mean it’s not still growing. As a psychotherapist, my humor and curiosity are what help me reach the light I need. I value the ability to laugh with my clients as well as let them lead. The latter means I will honor all parts of you, your experiences, and your goals.

I utilize somatic (body-based) modalities, Internal Family Systems (IFS, “parts” work), neuroplasticity, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and polyvagal techniques.
I believe suffering and symptoms come from unprocessed painful and traumatic experiences from the past and living a life out of alignment with our true selves. When we are brought to our knees in suffering, life demands us to meet ourselves in a new way, leading us on a path towards healing and wholeness. In our work together, you will experience safety and compassion where all “parts” of you are heard and honored. I will deeply listen to you, provide unconditional positive regard, guide and support as we unearth and work through painful experiences, offer encouragement and regulation tools, and ultimately empower you.

At your pace, I will interweave somatic techniques, trauma informed yoga, mindfulness, and evidenced-based practices to support you in cultivating body awareness, attuning to feelings, and transforming distress.
“I feel like my mind and body are disconnected.” “I feel overwhelmed by my emotions and try to avoid them.” “I feel alone – no one understands what I am going through." I am here for you. Throughout life we experience challenges and hardship that can leave us feeling disconnected from our authentic selves. Together, we can collaborate to approach your lived experiences with curiosity, address root sources of pain, and re-connect with what it means to be fully you.

Sometimes life can feel fast-paced, oppressive, and overwhelming. Nature reminds us that we have access to our own internal resilience, peace, and wisdom. My passion lies in helping individuals navigate the terrain on their unique path to personal growth, self-discovery, and healing. Stress, anxiety, and fear are just some of the feelings that can make us feel stuck, disconnected, or lost. However, the empowering truth is that they don’t have to define us. Together, let’s embark on a transformative journey where we explore these emotions as powerful catalysts for change.

As a psychotherapist, I partner with individuals who are wanting to work with/on their relationships, family dynamics, trauma (past or present), grief, identity, anxiety, and/or depression. One of my primary specialties is with adults who grew up in a dysfunctional household, working to resolve how those experiences are manifesting negatively in the present. Additionally, I specialize in relationship issues and grief. I work with people who are highly motivated to engage in their own healing process in order to grow, change, and cultivate possibilities.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
