Are you feeling weighed down by overwhelming anxiety, depression, unexplained physical pain, or old patterns that keep you stuck? Maybe you're navigating the complexities of racial identity, feeling the weight of cultural expectations, or struggling to find where you truly belong. Even if you’re managing okay on the surface, life might still feel off—like you’re just going through the motions, trapped in a routine that leaves little room for growth or inspiration. But you deserve more than just coping—you deserve to thrive by connecting to your self-love, and create a future that genuinely excites you.

Tired of feeling frustrated, stuck, and disconnected? You’re not alone. My name is David and I’ve helped dozens of men struggling with these issues. My clients typically feel off course, disconnected, and frustrated when they arrive. After working with me they feel fulfilled, relaxed, and empowered.

I find therapy most potent, important, and meaningful when there is a mix of: compassion/spaciousness (non-judgment); curiosity/levity (as appropriate); & choicefulness. From my background in Somatic Counseling/Body Psychotherapy, I make use of my own body, and body-based (a.k.a. somatic) tracking, applied moment-to-moment in the room with clients. Sometimes this is as simple as noticing the breath, or bringing attention (and other options) to bear when something shifts. There are also many extensive toolboxes of potential somatic interventions that expand the range, and the richness, of what a session together may include.

I am dedicated to working with people who want to get at the roots of their emotional pain and distress. My fundamental approach to treatment is relational. Therapy is a process where we will develop an alliance in which your emotional and developmental needs are made a priority. My approach requires a commitment on both our parts to stick with the process, which often can be upsetting and hard, at least in the moment. Retraining our brains to better think, relate and feel takes time, it is a learning process. Facilitating such development for you is my expertise.

My style is compassionate yet direct, soft yet forceful. I combine traditional talk therapy with somatic therapy (i.e., therapy involving awareness and work with the body). I have a background working in the corporate world and understand the challenges unique to that space. I trained at the California Institute of Integral Studies and incorporate not only that training but my years of post-graduate education and time spent studying different energetic and intuitive healing techniques into the work I do with you. Visit my website at www.allisonzamani.com for more information.

Thank you for taking a look at my profile. If you are suffering from emotional loneliness or anxiety, if you are dealing with guilt and shame issues, if you are having a hard time accepting yourself, if there are parts of you believing that there is something "wrong" with you, I would love to hear from you. If you are avoiding intimacy due to trust issues or for fear of getting hurt again, if you are having a difficult time calming down your nervous system and regulating your emotions, if you are seeking to learn more effective ways to work with life within and without, let's talk.

We reach out for help when we recognize that we do not have the tools we need to think differently and/or feel better. This decision is born of insight, humility and courage. During my long career, I have counseled numerous individuals from all walks of life, in both private practice and as Clinical Director of Eating Disorders & Substance Abuse Residential & Outpatient treatment programs. If you are open to expanding your consciousness in areas of aging, transitions, sadness, anxiety, relationships (mending/ending), compulsive eating/binge eating/bulimia, sickness, dying, death and grief, sexuality, spirituality, let's meet.

Maybe it's hard to feel like you're enough. You've been taught by family, culture, and society your whole life that everything from your body to your place in the world is always up for critique. So now you shrink, hide parts of yourself that you've been taught to reject, and move through the world wearing a mask. You might struggle to speak up for yourself and neglect your own needs. Low self esteem, self doubt, perfectionism, impostor syndrome, people pleasing and all these harmful internalized messages you've been carrying feel like shackles you've been forced to wear, don't they? And you're ready to break free.

I view psychotherapy as a process of exploration and affirmation of one's life path, including the experiences and wisdom gained along this journey. This is just the beginning point for the psychotherapeutic process of healing and identifying one's pathway to continue the journey of personal growth, transformation and achieving balance (mind, body & Spirit). I see my role as a therapist as that of a witness and source of support and knowledge, joining with you to help facilitate the individual process of developing a deeper sense of self-awareness, achieving personal growth and transformation: to create the life you want.
