I treat individuals experiencing symptoms of grief and loss, trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, life transitions, and relationships. I have experience working with individuals of all ages in both clinical and crisis settings. I believe personal growth and change happens when the counseling process is purposeful and intentional. I want to assist people in understanding their problems, defining goals, and developing realistic action plans. Together, we’ll identify the nature of the problems that you’re dealing with and find the solution best suited to your goals. It would be an honor to work with you.

Is that painful experience or worry stuck on repeat in your mind? Maybe it was a scary incident, negative comment, embarrassing moment or even a sports injury. Or maybe you're nervous AF about exams, public speaking, or playing in your game. Regardless, you're tired of it bothering you so much. And you're fed up with your fear preventing you from doing what you really want to do. But you're ready to feel calm again. You're ready to perform well and stop questioning your self-worth. And most of all, you want to move forward confidently and feel like yourself again. I want to help you get there.

Does your relationship turn you into a wild animal? Like sometimes it’s as if you and your partner are fighting over a hyena carcass when really you’re discussing basic domestic issues? You are not crazy and you’re not alone. We get most triggered by our intimate relationships and when we do, it becomes harder to repair disconnection and access love. It also becomes most harder to deal with the ups and downs that life throws at you. Learn to fight better and you can fight the world together instead of spending all your time battling at home.

I strive to create a therapeutic experience that delves deep into the intricacies of the human psyche. I am dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for individuals to explore their innermost thoughts and emotions without judgement or fear of reprisal. My therapeutic approach rooted in Carl Jung's principles (psychodynamic) allows me to delve deep into the subconscious to uncover underlying and 'root causes' of issues. Through the lens of psychodynamic and person-centered psychotherapy, I aim to unravel the complexities of one's inner world, fostering a sense of self-awareness and personal growth.

I approach therapy similarly to how I approach life: striving for health in all areas (emotional, physical, mental, spiritual, relational, etc.). If you are looking to become a healthier and more authentic version of yourself, you are in the right place. As a mental health provider, I believe clients guide the therapeutic process and therapy is, by nature, collaborative work. I am able to tailor my theoretical approach based on a client's unique needs and goals. I pull from a variety of theoretical orientations including, but not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, solution-focused therapy.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a counselor is the privilege to walk alongside someone at pivotal and transformative points in their journey. I specialize in working with children and adolescents, and enjoy supporting youth in navigating the unique experiences they face in the modern world. I work particularly well with clients who want to process past trauma, clients struggling with general concerns such as depression/anxiety, clients who are exploring their identity, and clients who experience chronic pain. Working with me starts with getting to know your story, what you’re struggling with, and what your goals are.

Relationships can be either invigorating or debilitating. We can create either type of relationship based on how we deal with our partner. Our feelings of depression and anxiety usually are associated with relationships in our life, whether our partner or family members and how we are raised. Looking at the causes of the unpleasant feelings are the first step in healing. The process then becomes finding solutions to the stuck patterns we find ourselves in. People do not exist externally from society but in conjunction with society.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
