Over the course of my career, I have worked with various populations of child, teen, and adult clients in the mental health field. I can honestly say that I love what I do and have always found a unique way to connect with each client. I believe it is important to view each person who I meet with an intersectional and unbiased lens and to construct a treatment plan and therapy style for each client that is in line with not just their specific mental health needs, but their personality, sense of humor, and personal values.

I am a Christian psychotherapist who enjoys helping people with various life issues. I aim to come alongside clients to assist with a wide range of challenges. Seeking help for the first time can be scary so I understand that the first step is a significant one. Once we get started, I help clients gain insight using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Insight-oriented therapy, Schema Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) methods. I graduated from Western Michigan University in 1996 with a degree in counseling and I join you in your efforts for improvement.

I obtained by BS in Exercise Science a little over 9 years ago. After several internships in the field, the mind-body connection captivated me. Seeking to bridge the gap in my understanding of this intriguing connection, I obtained my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling and have been working in this incredible field ever since. I am trained in both Narrative Exposure Therapy and Inner Child Work for treating complex trauma and in Integrative Mental Health for treating people from a wholistic perspective.

She has worked with a wide variety clients throughout my career to include those struggling with parenting concerns, those diagnosed with a mental illness, those struggling with a substance addiction and those facing incarceration.

Sometimes, we just want to find "home," that place within us that is our true self and that validates who we are and what we believe in but that often gets in conflict with others who want us to change in order to fit what they want us to be. I partner with my clients to help them find that place of home as they deal with life changes and transitions that may result in depression, anxiety, relationship issues, a search for purpose and meaning of a wish for personal growth.

Over years of experience, I have discovered that people develop a way of thinking about themselves, others, the world. How we think determines how we experience life. This way of thinking includes negative beliefs that we develop about ourselves. There's really only a handful and they sound something like "I don't matter" or "I'm worthless," "It's never good enough" or maybe "something is wrong with me." These beliefs keep us stuck because they are not just in our heads. They are connected with emotional experiences, often very painful. So even though we know we're worthy, we don't feel worthy.

I work with tweens, teens, adults and couples seeking to manage anxiety, improve daily coping skills at school, work or college and/or a desire to discuss stressors affecting them. Clients may be self referred or referred by their medical providers or friends. My experience includes assessment for depression, ADHD, anxiety and other untreated mental health difficulties. Due to the mind-body connection, I firmly believe that getting mental health care is equally as important as physical health care. By decreasing stigma and increasing access, so many more people could benefit from mental health support.

Having immigrated from Mexico at a young age and later identifying as Lesbian brought many challenges of acculturation and familial norms and expectations that I had to overcome. These experiences opened a deep understanding of the need for and importance of being heard, understood, and welcomed within our most cherished communities.
