My passion extends to supporting Transgender adults along with their family members and friends.
Being identified as Autistic later in life, I have deep personal and professional insights into the challenges of living beyond conventional societal norms. My experiences, especially those gained while supporting my queer, Trans, Autistic daughter, have greatly influenced my understanding of neurodiversity and gender diversity. If you’ve ever felt like an outsider, exhausted from pretending to fit in, lost in not knowing who you are anymore, or suffocated by 'normal' expectations, you're not alone. Here, you'll find a compassionate space where your experiences are genuinely heard and validated.

Trauma, by definition, is "a deeply distressing or disturbing experience." Everyone has experienced a traumatic experience at some point. Sometimes we can process those experiences and carry on with our lives without any problem. Sometimes those experiences cause us to feel stuck, have increased anxiety, and irritability, have nightmares and be easily triggered. -It doesn't have to stay that way.- New Foundation Counseling provides trauma-focused therapy to all, regardless of age, gender, race, political or spiritual affiliation. Everyone is welcome. We specialize in working with pre-teens/teens and the LGBTQ+ community/allies..

It is easy to feel overwhelmed and out of control when your best efforts to manage are not enough. Sometimes emotions like anger, anxiety, or depression are too intense, making it hard to deal with even the day to day. Sometimes, your support system is not able to meet your needs or perhaps an issue is so impactful it requires expertise to successfully address it. There is support for these tough times. Whether skills and strategies need bolstering or deep hurts healed, you do not have to face this alone.

Initially an engineer, I realized through a journey of self-discovery, reflection, and growth my true passion and skill was for helping people heal, giving hope, and creating change. This led me to pursue a Masters in Counseling through the CACREP-accredited counseling program at Denver Seminary. I believe the essence of my work is to facilitate self-growth by helping you identify the core challenges and setbacks in your life, so that you can overcome them with confidence. I am passionate about authentic relationships, with yourself and others.

As a licensed clinical social worker with clinical experience in healthcare and with family systems, I have chosen to direct my practice towards folks with chronic disease and people who are close to them as I believe these populations often do not receive enough support around their experiences.

The world can be a harsh place for someone who doesn’t fit the mold of the majority or adhere to the dominant cultural narrative because it doesn’t fit who they are inside. This struggle can leave you feeling depressed, anxious, and hopeless. I create a supportive therapeutic space to help you unpack your emotions, process struggles, and voice the impacts you have felt from living in a society that can be un-accepting, oppressive, and even abusive. I can help you develop safety from within, healthy coping tools, and brainstorm ways of connecting with community so you can live a fully authentic life.

Dealing with trauma and past hurts, struggling with work, relationships, or addiction, managing depression & anxiety or to better understand one's gender identity or sexuality - it isn't easy to address any of these things. I see therapy as a safe, judgment-free, shame-free, and confidential space, where you are free to vent, confide, cry, discuss, imagine, find strength, and be empowered. Most importantly, therapy is a place for hope to come alive, to learn new coping skills, to achieve personal growth, and to discover you are strong, valuable, and greater than any struggle you might have. Change is possible!

By now you may feel like you've tried everything. Perhaps your home has become a battleground, filled with fights that repeat over and over without any progress. Maybe you feel like you have hit a wall with your partner and aren’t sure how to move forward, or maybe you feel stuck, watching from the sidelines as your child navigates the many challenges of adolescence. Taking action can help resolve these feelings of helplessness and taking the initiative to seek treatment is the first step forward. If you or your child is struggling to live a fulfilling life—or even struggling to make it through the day—it’s time to seek help.

Life can be hard, often leaving us feeling bewildered and isolated. It can be scary to begin to open up what might feel unknown, daunting, or overwhelming. Together we can exhale, check in, and gently begin to process and unpack what it is that you are carrying. My hope is that through our work together you can begin to reconnect with your core self and those around you.

We understand the impact of being neurodivergent (autistic, ASD, PDA, ADHD, gifted, 2e, dyslexic, dysgraphic, dyscalculic) in a world built for neurotypicals. Because the world is not designed for neurodivergent people, daily life is often more difficult due to neurological differences that impact communication, executive functioning, sensory regulation, and learning.

Transgender Therapists
As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?
A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.
What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?
Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.
How can I recognize a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?
An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognize a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.
How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?
Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
