The focus of my practice is helping adults with ADHD, adults with Substance Use or Alcohol Use concerns, and adults struggling with controlling Anger.
Now offering video and phone therapy from the safety and comfort of your own home. I firmly believe that we all have the ability to create meaningful, happy lives for ourselves, even in the face of adversity. The quality of our experiences is determined by the meaning we give to them. Our time together will be aimed at fostering insights into your inner world - your beliefs, emotions, thoughts, and impulses - to help you redefine your outlook and create the life you want. This is sometimes hard work, and I have seen people make incredible changes. You can too!

When you suffer a traumatic event, your entire world changes. This can cause fractured relationships, thoughts of suicide, self-sabotaging behaviors, problems with concentration, and feelings of anger, depression, and emptiness. Do you feel alone, disconnected or unusually angry and/or depressed? Do you question how you will make it through another day?

I work on processing trauma, building social skills, managing anger and coping with big life transitions.
I believe that meeting each person where they are and taking an individualized, client-centered approach is the key to addressing and relieving even the most intense issues. I have over 15 years of experience of working with children, teens and their families, from a diverse set of backgrounds. I also have significant experience supporting young adults, particularly the issues that young women face. I am passionate about helping clients grow and thrive through traditional and play-based therapy. Needing help is normal and I have helped many move through challenges to find stability and joy.

However, I enjoy helping people with a variety of different concerns including low self-esteem, stress management, relationship issues, ADHD, grief, anger management, and rigid personality traits.
I believe that human beings have a level of resiliency that is truly amazing. At times, individuals can need some assistance with realizing this and being able to tap into their own strength. I am passionate about therapy because it allows a person to be in a safe space to develop insights and experience healing. The therapeutic process is one that should be open, trusting, and enlightening. My goal is to work side by side with clients to help them tap into their inner strength, in order to enhance their overall well-being.

You’re overwhelmed by worry and self-doubt. Feelings of anxiety have intensified, and you do not know how to make it go away. You constantly worry about every little thing. You worry about if you’re doing your job well enough, what others think of you, maybe you should have not said that thing you said yesterday, and it goes on and on. Everyday is a battle of trying to keep it all together, and to do everything perfectly. You experience anxiety attacks from time to time, and you feel like you have no control. Your anxiety sometimes turns into anger, and you lash out on the people you love most. You can't live like this anymore.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
