My areas of expertise include working with men and women individually (I am not a couples therapist) as they navigate through a myriad of challenges such as anxiety, depression, insecurities, uncertainties and how past traumas and learned behaviors can all play a part in the health of their current relationships. Of course this includes their intimate partner relationships but I also have much experience in helping individuals navigate through concerns involving complex adult child/parent relationships.

Hi, my name is Shawna Kaneshiro. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master’s Degree in Counseling with a focus in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I've also completed additional training for Prepare/Enrich Marriage and Premarital assessments, perinatal (conception to a year after birth) mood and anxiety disorders, Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1, military culture, and suicide intervention skills. I am also a National Certified Counselor. My area of focus is on relationships, intimacy, postpartum, prenatal, parenting, premarital, and marital counseling. I believe; gaining insight and understanding, feeling more hopeful, knowing someone is there to listen, and being in a safe and non-judgmental environment, are just some of the important keys to therapy. One of the most difficult and courageous things someone can do is to walk into a clinician's office and ask for help. Sometimes people may hesitate to seek help because they feel alone in their pain or that no one will understand them. I work with clients ages two and older, from diverse cultural groups, and foster an atmosphere of understanding across these various age and cultural groups.
