All persons experience emotional discomfort and yours is unique. Our feelings are absent time orientation! Discomfort from an emotional challenge helps us all to define a way forward. Discomfort origins may be known, or remain unknown. Past trauma events may become a painful emotional echo to now. I am a twice certified EMDR clinician, I have weekday and weekend appointments available. We will define the solution forward. I offer a free 40 minute free introduction call. Your first step forward to your individual solution. I am looking forward to your call or email. Generous thanks, Christine

If you are looking for understanding and assistance with anxiety, fears, relationships, or stress, you have come to the right place. The way in which we cope in the world is greatly influenced by how we see the world. I assist individuals in understanding their anxiety (psychoeducation) and overcome the anxieties that are getting in their way of achieving their goals by Rewiring the Anxious Brain. I also aid people with understanding their deeper and underlying emotions, addictions, stress management, relationships, attachment styles, emotion recognition and regulation.

Do you ever wish you could express yourself in a way other than words? Imagine a therapeutic journey that centers on your, or your child's preferences and strengths, using them as a guide to achieve non-musical goals. A space where lyrics, harmonies, and rhythms act as compass to direct expression, communication, and empowerment. As a music therapist, I believe in the power of music providing the tools which words may lack. I work with a variety of clients who find music as a strong motivator. The clients I have worked with have a range of needs from intellectual, development, or physical disabilities, ASD, trauma and more.

As a licensed psychotherapist, I specialize in helping adults who have suffered from trauma, with a deep understanding of how these experiences impact emotional and psychological well-being. I commonly work with clients dealing with complex post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, grief, substance use, as well as challenges related to attachment, identity, and relationships.

I have been passionate about psychology and helping others for as long as I can remember. One of my early passions became to destigmatize mental health care. Mental health is just as important as physical health. I work with a variety of individuals working to live happier and healthier lives by overcoming many different issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflicts, and more. Through my own personal experience, I know beginning the therapy journey can feel a bit daunting, however I am here to help create a safe and collaborative space where you are comfortable.

Everyone has a story. Our stories say something about who we are and how we manage life, how we get our needs met and how we relate. We all have the same basic needs for love, acceptance, connection, significance and purpose. Life can be full of joy and laughter, and at other times there can be deep hurt and sorrow when we need someone with an understanding heart and mind to join us in our journey. My heartfelt compassion and commitment to each person I serve, specifically caring for their unique needs makes all the difference.

Changing one's unhappiness or difficulties in life often feels like a daunting task. My clients become empowered to get their needs met and solve their problems, primarily through cognitive and behavioral techniques and psychoeducation. Taking responsibility for their own growth, they increase their self esteem and confidence. My typical client seeks more effective coping skills, guidance through treatment for depression, mood disorders, anxiety, grief, stress management, adjustment to divorce or other life changes, AD/HD, addictions; also workplace and parenting issues, and trauma.

I do accept some insurance. WELCOME, I'm glad you're here. I believe therapy gives us all a chance to take a breath and ask ourselves important questions. Therapy gives us the space to explore the issues that have us feeling stuck, in pain, and wanting more. I believe in creating the safest space I can for you to make that journey inward. I believe in focusing on you holistically, including the memory of experiences you hold in your body and in your nervous system. I will encourage your curiosity of expression and explore your connection to self and those in your life.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
