Psychotherapy is simply a conversation designed to help you understand yourself more completely. Rather than providing answers, it helps you identify what is interfering with your ability to live in a satisfying way. I have helped people sufferring from depression, anxiety, and relationship problems - even when previous attempts at treatment have failed. Meaningful change is possible in an environment of mutual respect and safety, where you can tell your own story at your own pace. I work with both individuals and couples.
People don't come for therapy until symptoms, like depression and anxiety are causing great sufferring. There are many approaches to therapy, but unless you figure out what is causing the symptoms, they will return or swtich forms. My focus is on the person and the life, and the underlying issues that are causing distress.
Therapy is an art, not a science. Because every person is unique, every therapy is unique as well. My training and experience have taught me to be creatively open to what is required in each individual circumstance. Although therapy can be hard, nothing compares to feeling liberated from self imposed sufferring.
