We will work on building more awareness of our patterns, thoughts, narrative.
I seek to work with individuals who are moving toward change, perhaps only knowing that change as a feeling, an inclination, and a belief there is a need for this change. They are driven to reveal more of themselves that has been muted by whatever patterns they've assumed. I believe we all pick up things along the way that we think we have to be or must do to get what we need. My aim is to walk alongside you and see if there are some things we are carrying that no longer serve who we are trying to be and/or become. My purpose is to listen past the words used and get to the true intention of what is longing to be heard.

I use an eclectic approach which includes modalities such as CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, and mindfulness techniques.
You are not defined by the struggles that are keeping you stuck. Anxiety, depression, trauma, and other problems take ahold of our lives and prevent us from reaching our full potential. We experience feelings of hopelessness that we cannot seem to shake. The idea of “self love” can be difficult to even imagine when we have created negative stories about ourselves. Happiness feels far out of reach and the path to healing is unclear. Pain can lead us to isolate and accept the belief that we are alone and no one can help us.

Through the use of CBT, narrative therapy, and ACT, I work to help clients feel empowered and make lasting change.
Does your worry or self-doubt get in the way of what you want? Does anxiety or people-pleasing keep you from advocating for yourself? Would you like to change your relationship with food and your body? If yes, then I would love to get to know you more and see if I can help you rediscover your strengths, power, and solidify your authentic voice. I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, eating disorders, and self-esteem issues that stem from life's overwhelm and pressures. I invite clients to question their engrained self-perceptions to envision and create a life rooted in confidence and the knowledge of their self-worth.

My integrative therapeutic approach includes narrative therapy, attachment-based therapy, culturally based practices, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT).
Seeking out help and accessing therapy services is not easy, and there are many barriers that prevent people from getting the help they need and deserve. One of my goals is to help reduce these barriers by creating a space that is welcoming, safe, and honors the various identities you may hold. It’s important for me to work with my clients in a collaborative manner while using strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches. My hope is that my clients get to live an authentic life that is fulfilling and embodies self-acceptance.

Other evidenced based approaches I consistently implement are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.
I recognize the courage it takes to begin therapy and start this process. Whether this is your first experience, or you have attended therapy before, I want to help you feel safe and develop trust at your own pace. I believe that you have the capability and deserve to become the version of yourself that aligns with your values, even if that seems challenging right now. In sessions, I work to help you feel heard, supported, and identify specifically tailored strategies to help reach your desired goals. Working with me will feel as if you have someone on your team who truly cares about your overall wellbeing.

We will meet by teletherapy means, from the comfort of your home, utilizing a body/energy centered, strengths-based, integrative approach, that blends traditionally successful approaches like EMDR, somatic, and narrative methodologies with mindfulness, inner child work, and visualization.
You are NOT crazy! The part of your brain concerned with survival is likely feeling frantic, causing your logical self to go offline and your emotional self to be dysregulated. Are your old triggers and dysfunctional coping responses intensifying? Trauma, loss, change, conflict, and oppression can make you feel hopeless, lonely, anxious, depressed, and distrusting of you. You don't have to be defined by your past; you can transform your life by overcoming obstacles that keep you stuck and in pain. “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” Rumi

A favorite saying in narrative therapy: The person is never the problem.
I work collaboratively with people to help them create the lives they want -- in their relationships, families, recreation and work. This process of exploration and discovery is inspiring and taps into hopes, dreams and imagination through story and re-connecting and remembering memories and experiences of connection and joy in their lives. Clients who benefit most from working with me are usually bright, creative and interested in freeing themselves from the constraints of family, social and cultural expectations that have become internalized and held as truths. This is a way of finding your way home ... to where your heart is.

I draw from various theoretical orientations, including psychodynamic, narrative, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
“I can’t stop worrying about everything.” “Everyone leaves me.” “I need to make a change, but I feel stuck.” “No one understands what I’m going through.” I see you, and I am so glad that you're here. Life doesn't stop for us, even amid our greatest struggles. The difficult seasons may feel all-encompassing—and I believe therapy should be a space where you can take the time you need to process, explore, grow, and heal. This is your time—I'm here to listen to your story and illuminate the strengths within you as we work toward your unique goals.

My approach to counseling is interdisciplinary, borrowing heavily from mindfulness practices, CBT skills training, narrative therapy, and strengths-based modalities.
How do we find inner peace when our outer presentation is wrong? Where is self-acceptance when the world around you is unaccepting? Your internal struggles are real, and you are not alone. Wholeness begins with healing. They say time heals all wounds, but some wounds are so deep it feels as though they may never heal. Asking for help takes strength. If you’re experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma from sexual assault or abuse, and/or sex and relationship issues, let’s chat. Please reach out via email if possible

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?

In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?

The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?

An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?

It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?

HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?

Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?

Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?

Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer Employee Assistance Plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy.

What is an Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)?

Employee Assistance Plans are purchased by employers for the benefit of their employees. EAPs typically assist employees with referrals and may also provide the first few sessions of therapy free of charge, with the patient's regular health insurance kicking in after those initial sessions. EAP benefits often apply to all types of therapy without the need for a medical diagnosis, making it easier to access couples therapy, therapy for life transitions, and other non-medical counseling. Just as with standard health insurance, clients should always check that a provider accepts their EAP benefits before scheduling.
