I am licensed in New Mexico and California. I work with people of various ages, experiences and conditions, especially focusing on LGBTQ+ issues and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Many of my clients are gay men who have survived abuse and the trauma of growing up in a world that doesn't want them. We understand now that PTSD results not only from 'big T' single traumas, but also from 'small t' complex experiences that occur over time. This may disrupt one's ability to form healthy relationships and create self-worth. I am passionate about helping clients who are ready to do the hard work of healing.
I am a 69 year old gay man. My lifetime of experience informs my work. I have advanced EMDR training and I integrate family systems therapy with a client-centered approach. I help clients develop short- and long-term goals and create plans to reach them. As clients progress through individual work, I find that group therapy helps insure long-term benefits.
Each client's experience is unique. We all are born with an inherent drive toward health and well-being. The ‘work’ of therapy is to create the conditions that will enhance that instinct so that one's true self will blossom. My goal is to become each client's ally and provide the conditions that will allow healing to emerge.
