Have you ever asked for help and been disappointed with the results? I won't stand for that. I am not interested in "doing" therapy, but rather, creating a transformative partnership with my patients that helps them to become something greater. What does that look like? Whatever a patient needs it to be. I am passionate about taking people who have capacity to be better and helping them to maximize it. If you aren't progressing, I will help you find someone who can help. I work with an amazing team, and we have a fit for you.

You are worth the investment! Some studies suggest that over 80% of all physical symptoms may have emotional or psychological roots. Sometimes anxiety and depression are just our body's way of letting us know a change is needed. If your relationships or life situations are causing you more distress than joy, therapy can help. We all experience pain, loss, and feelings of rejection. Although these feelings are normal, if neglected they can quickly become barriers to happiness and growth.

At some point, we may find ourselves in a position that throws us off track with no idea how to move forward. I have personally experienced situations where I needed expert help to guide me through the maze in a way where I emerged resilient and empowered. I specialize in trauma, as it seems that almost everyone has experienced trauma at some point in life. It is helpful to understand how trauma is processed by the brain and the body in a completely different way from processing a healthy, happy experience.

Therapy is often mistaken as the last resort for people with serious struggles, but everyone experiences bouts of confusion, anxiety, sadness, fear, and grief. Many of us have experienced neglect, abuse, or trauma, and talking to a therapist can help create clarity about what to do next. Therapy may be the answer to making the life improvements that you need. If you feel depressed, alone, or lost, a therapist can often help guide you to find the strength and perseverance to improve your state of mind. My passions are in social justice. I believe everyone needs to be heard and understood in order for communities to thrive.

Licensed in Utah and Nevada, offices in Saint George and Mesquite. I believe the counseling process a collaborative journey. The journey begins without judgement in a safe and helping environment.... Each of you has a life story and within that story are opportunities for growth, happiness, and fulfillment. Many of you are feeling emotional pain, frustrations, anger, fear, and hopelessness. You are not "broken" just likely realizing that the problem solving tools that may have worked in the past may be dull or worn. Many times we are not sure what to do, or where to look for help. Now is a great time to call and start your journey.

Life tends to have a way of throwing us a few more curve balls than we’d like. I love helping clients gain the tools and understanding they need to make navigating through this crazy life less overwhelming. Sometimes when life's too much our brains try to help us out by sending danger signals. These signals can come in many different forms, including physical pain, anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts, and much more. Unfortunately, even though these danger signals are just doing the best they can, they tend to make things even harder.

Depression and anxiety cause emotional pain that can feel like a permanent personality change. Sadness, anger, and shame can spiral out of control until we hardly recognize ourselves. The truth is, it’s not permanent! There is hope! There are many reasons we might find ourselves in despair. Depression can be caused by grief, anxiety, ADHD, adversity in childhood, narcissistic abuse, troubled relationships, or any number of mental illnesses. It can also seem to come from nothing at all! Sometimes existing is just exhausting!

Life can be difficult no matter what stage you are in. Sometimes you might feel like you're putting in the most effort without any results. We often need help with learning what direction to go down or how we may be able to pull ourselves out of the pit we are in. I prioritize creating a safe therapeutic relationship in order to heal.

It is only natural to have hard times, feel lonely, or just want a nonjudgmental person to talk to. Seeking therapy is not a sign of weakness, but a demonstration of strength and resilience. A quote by Maya Angelou that resonates with me states, ‘You may not control all of the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.’ I believe that everyone already has the power to change within themselves. Therefore, my philosophy in therapy is to combine your expertise of your life with my clinical knowledge and skills to empower you to meet your goals.

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” I always tell my clients that if they take anything away from therapy, let it be to know that no relationship is more important than the relationship you have with yourself. With this mindset, I become an ally to help my clients set goals and address various issues while building self love, empowerment and compassion. I work well with client that are ready to do the hard work of therapy and I do everything in my power to make sure they know how strong and supported they are for doing doing this. Therapy isn't easy and together we got this!

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Saint George?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
