I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with over 20 years of experience. I have worked extensively with those suffering from PTSD, especially women who are survivors of sexual and physical violence, depression, anxiety, grief, self esteem, and those struggling with interpersonal relationship issues and healthy boundaries. I engage collaboratively with individuals to explore their lives, and provide support to to make desired changes towards living a more meaningful life. Mindfulness skills are developed and practiced to manage distress in a more accepting manner in order to improve quality of functioning.
I trust in genuinely "being present" with a individual in therapy and believe it important to find a "good fit" with a counselor. and I use eclectic approaches, and favor ACT and CBT methods. As a feminist therapist, I believe that addressing and broadening insight into how social issues contribute to our own lives, is integral to improving our well being.
It is hard to reach out. I am always amazed by the resilience and strength of those that I have had the benefit of seeing. I have had the privilege of working with a diverse population and believe in providing a safe, and affirming therapeutic experience for all people. Although it can take time and patience, I have witnessed real hope and progress occur.
