My ideal client is someone who has the drive to be an active part of their treatment. I love hearing people's stories and have a strong appreciation of the struggles many go through before they decide to go to counseling. I want to understand the world through my client's perspectives in a way that allows me to help them based on their value system. They may struggle with depression or anxiety but they have made the effort to call in and make a change. They are comfortable exploring their values in session to help me understand where their values apply to past decisions making and propel future change they want to achieve.
My style as a therapist is one that is affirming and passionate. I want my clients to have an engaging experience where they spend time thinking critically about their goals. I also want our sessions to have plenty of moments of levity where clients can relax.
Sometimes talking about music or video games is exactly what a client needs and those are two things I am very passionate about. This is my client’s therapy, I want them to have a hand in crafting the experience.
