“I know what I need to do to feel better”, “How is talking about my problems going to do anything”,...these are just a couple of the reasons why people can be apprehensive about therapy. Let’s talk about what therapy can do for you instead. By working collaboratively we can work together to decrease anxiety and depression, increase self esteem, enhance insight and better understanding of self, as well as to identify patterns of behaviors and thinking just to name a few benefits. Therapy isn’t a magic wand, and you aren’t going to be happy every day, or never experience stress again.
Therapy is a way to help you learn effective coping skills, change thoughts/behaviors that lead to distress, provide symptom relief, help problem solve, and improve relationships. I strive to help my clients reach their goals, process current or past traumas, manage stress efficiently, and find purpose in their lives.
I have been doing outpatient therapy for the past ten years, working with adolescents and their families as well as with adults. Previously, I had nine years of experience at a behavioral health hospital in the crisis department. I completed my undergraduate work at Loyola University and earned my Masters at Adler School of Professional Psychology.
