I place high regard in providing therapeutic care that is trauma informed and incorporates a multicultural lens. My aim is to continue to educate myself on varieties of cultures, spiritual beliefs, and experiences as to best serve my clients. As a member of the LGBTQIA+, I also put a lot of care into providing a space that is safe to explore sexuality and gender; as well as, the experiences of being LGBTQIA+ within a rural community. I work to help my clients create a stronger connection to their essential self, by using an integrative approach to wellness and health. I provide my clients with resources, support, and education. Through my roles as facilitator, guide, and nurturer, I offer a safe, sacred space for clients to explore their vulnerability, potential, and limitations. Grounded in the essential self, clients can observe their present situation with more awareness. They can actively access their full potential to shift any blocks, barriers, and distortions that may prevent them from achieving their goals.

My goal as a therapist is to provide quality, evidence-based care in the context of a warm and comfortable environment. I use a cognitive-behavioral approach to address a wide range of issues, and have experience working with children and adolescents, as well as adults and couples/families.

Familial conflict, Borderline Personality Disorder, and trauma are areas that I have advanced training in as well. I hold a certification in DBT and have worked with people age 4-70. I am currently supervised and trained by Dr. Laura Copley, the only Ph.D. Certified Trauma Specialist in the Shenandoah Valley. Therapy dog, Luca, is a bonus (see gallery pictures).

I enjoy supporting children, teens, and families. With children, I offer play therapy interventions to encourage healthy processing and emotion expression. With teens, I focus on creating a strong relationship built on mutual trust and respect. In working with adults and parents, I aim to work collaboratively with you to meet your identified goals. I am a genuine, accepting, and positive individual, and I aim to bring that presence to each counseling session to ensure you feel comfortable and supported.

Each of us is writing a story with our lives, and like any story we are incomplete without knowing our past and having an idea for our future. Hi there, I am now accepting new clients at Wildly Rooted Counseling as of June 2024! My theoretical approach is person centered and solution focused, which means I will be working with you to create goals that support the life you want. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I have previously worked with schools, nonprofit organizations, and now private practice. I am training in DBT which focuses on skills training and emotional regulation.

I enjoy supporting children, teens, adults, and older adults, though much of my experience is with adolescents. I have certifications in play therapy, music therapy, and nature therapy interventions. I focus my work on building strong emotional awareness based on a collaborative therapeutic relationship. I find fulfillment in my work when helping clients reach goals they set for themselves.

We provide a range of psychological evaluations in Harrisonburg–for children, teens, and adults. Assessments for dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia (learning disabilities in reading, writing, and math). We also provide evaluations for ADHD and autism.
