If you are looking for a therapist with clinical and practical experience working with children, with a focus on solutions and education, please contact me to schedule your child's first session.
I have seen the needs of kids change and grow over the course of my career working with children. The foundation of my practice is understanding that kids do the best they can when they can, and that behavior is a form of communication. My goal is to equip kids and their parents with the tools they need to be emotionally intelligent, resilient, and prepared for social settings. I am dedicated to supporting children and their families through their most challenging times.

Hello, my name is Amanda and I believe this career found me. Ever since I was a child all I wanted was to help people, be outside and create art. I know the power of art because it has helped me through many tough times. Art is how I communicate when I don't have the words to share my inner world with others. I know the power of being heard without judgment or unwelcome advice, because I too have experienced the feeling of isolation and frustration from receiving the opposite. I know the power of having a relationship with the natural world, because it has fostered a sense of belonging and spirituality for me.

I offer flexible evening and weekend appointments for school age children/adolescents/teens as well as working adults.
As a counselor, my passion is helping people find hope in their healing process. It's about making commitments to healing in order to become your best self with a partner (myself) who provides a warm, safe environment while supporting you in a non-judgmental manner. Counseling can help both children and adults develop or enhance problem-solving skills, and to cope with stress and a variety of emotional as well as behavioral issues. My goal is not to make decisions or solve individuals' problems, but to gently guide them into naturally making choices that are right for them, their children, and family.

I bring an array of knowledge and experience form Child Welfare, Residential Programs, In-Home Counseling and School Social Work.
Throughout life, it is possible to find ourselves on a journey we believe is impossible to complete. Through therapy, we learn that no journey is impossible; however sometimes we must detour...delay...revisit...or speed up! This analogy speaks to the true essence of therapy, helping others to navigate obstacles that present themselves along their journey. I will partner with you to find your path to a healthy existence despite any detours you encounter.

Child Therapists
Child psychologists in Michigan provide mental health therapy to children and are experts in child development.

Every comprehensive review of therapy with children shows that all credible approaches, when performed by a competent mental health clinician, produce almost the same results. About half of all kids will get better. Of those that improve, 80% will show progress in a relatively short time (likely in fewer than six sessions), the remaining 20% will need longer-term support.

The best child therapists in Michigan build great relationships with the child and the parent. They also see the child's strengths and are open to hearing the child's possible solutions to the challenges the child faces. Finally, a good therapist appreciates the child's culture and is sensitive to the values of the child's community.
