In this current time of my practice I am especially passionate about working with women and children who struggle with anxiety, PTSD, sexual abuse, and supporting women in postpartum.
The healing process is one that is infinite and the beauty of that rests in the fact that there are an abundance of healing methods and forms of healing. Sourcing the appropriate path is contingent upon our present state and what we need in that particular life moment. I believe that a holistic approach to psychological, emotional, and behavioral issues is the most effective way to reaching the source of our distress. Throughout treatment an individual or family is provided with various coping tools and skills to manage symptoms.

Aloha! I am a credentialed Art Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Hawaii. I have experience working with all ages; children, adolescents, adults and families. Art is a universal language that communicates from the heart. Sometimes there are no words to express what is going on inside of us. The process of creating art provides an image, a piece of the puzzle of our life. When a series of images are put together, they tell a story. Whether the condition is depression or anxiety, a crisis, a traumatic event or a series of events, art therapy becomes a way to process, express and communicate your story.

For 10 +years I've worked with families, individuals and children in the community.
Therapy can be the opportunity to explore our lives in a safe space and unpack why we feel stuck. I encourage my clients to discuss what they want to see happen in their life and work with them on developing goals. I use a combination of family structure, emotional focus and family of origin modes of therapy in my practice. Therapy for some can be a new experience and I honor that.

I have extensive psychotherapy work history and knowledge of many issues which helps me work with children and individuals with varing life experiences.
I am a friendly, real, and comfortable person to talk with. Therapy can feel daunting and embarrassing, especially at first, so it's important that you feel comfortable when you are talking about what's bothering you. You are coming to therapy to work on issues and resolve problems and you want support and answers. When you come in we will talk about what you feel ready to deal with. I will gently guide you through the process of uncovering your needs and wants in a way that doesn't feel threatening or invasive and help you get those in your life.

My tenure includes providing clinical services in corrections with the state's Department of Justice system, child welfare services, and administrative leadership in at-risk youth programs and affiliate faculty at Northwestern University.
There is a myriad of reasons to seek counseling; you are feeling anxious, hurt or may not yet be able to identify something that doesn't feel quite right in your life. For whatever reason, I am here to help you navigate the spaces that appear difficult, ambiguous, and daunting. Research suggests that the decision to seek counseling in and of itself can indicate a person's capacity and capability to heal. Together, we will work to alleviate the challenges in your life, discover new skills, and establish goals for both change and growth.

Child Therapists
Child psychologists in Hawaii provide mental health therapy to children and are experts in child development.

Every comprehensive review of therapy with children shows that all credible approaches, when performed by a competent mental health clinician, produce almost the same results. About half of all kids will get better. Of those that improve, 80% will show progress in a relatively short time (likely in fewer than six sessions), the remaining 20% will need longer-term support.

The best child therapists in Hawaii build great relationships with the child and the parent. They also see the child's strengths and are open to hearing the child's possible solutions to the challenges the child faces. Finally, a good therapist appreciates the child's culture and is sensitive to the values of the child's community.
