I focus on cognitive restructuring to challenge individuals and their thoughts about themselves and others so they can work towards reframing their faulty cognitions, thinking more positively and realistically, and reducing dysfunctional behaviors. In addition, the problem-solving technique helps clients address problems and unhealthy behaviors within the session and then eventually find healthy solutions. In sessions, modeling and role-playing will also be taught and practiced to encourage effective communication skills.
Finally, I like to provide homework assignments that clients can do at home that can encourage positive behaviors. Mindfulness strategies, such as deep breathing is taught during sessions to help assist the client in reducing anxiety, and depression and can eliminate the frequency of panic attacks.
