Many youth I work with struggle with self esteem, grief, friendship and relationship issues, anxiety, and depression. I use a strengths based approach and cognitive behavioral therapy to build client's skills, knowledge, and tools. Most importantly, I ensure my clients feel heard, valued, and cared for. I work to build positive relationships with my clients so they feel comfortable and look forward to our sessions.
Over the past 10 years, I have worked with children and youth ages 4-18 who have experienced trauma, crisis, depression, anxiety, grief, self esteem issues, and relationship issues. I have experience working as a mental health provider in schools, which helps me understand the experiences youth face.
It takes a lot of courage and strength to sign up for therapy. I understand some clients might feel worried or shy. I want to get to know you, hear about your interests, and hear about what brings you to therapy. Sometimes having a stuffed animal or furry friend helps younger children feel a little more comfortable during the first session.
