We all struggle with uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, and memories. Through the acceptance of these painful inner experiences we can begin to construct a life that is vital, meaningful, and engaged. I seek to assist a wide range of clients in this process with the use of insight, metaphor, mindfulness, and compassion.
My expertise is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which is a third wave cognitive behavioral therapy. ACT helps people create a different relationship to painful thoughts, feelings, and memories in order to reduce suffering. When we step out of the struggle with our inner experience we can move toward meaning.
As a clinical psychologist I have training in the application of mindfulness and compassion. I completed a postdoctoral residency at the VA Honolulu in the treatment of trauma and severe mental illness. My training experiences equip me in offering evidence based psychotherapy as well as psychodynamic/insight oriented therapy.
