As someone who has been a school counselor I realize that a child's mental health is often times directly correlated to their parents mental health. For that reason I love serving children and or adults that struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. In addition to serving school aged children, I also have a huge heart for those who are in need of pregnancy related counseling. Whether it be that they are dealing with loss, infertility, or postpartum depression I believe this is a population that is underserved and in need of mental health assistance.
There does not have to be "something wrong" for you to pursue counseling services. I am a huge believer in being proactive instead of reactive to the curveballs that life throws your way. Being more emotionally aware and equipped to deal with life when it gets to be too much is a goal I have for each of my clients.
Individuals at times can be like cars have a flat tire. The only issue is that the tire is low on air, but it is causing everything else to shake and feel unreliable. With a little attention and air the car is back to running and the driver is better prepared for the next time they are having issues. Invest in yourself and your mental health.
