It includes evidence-based methods, learning about the issue or disorder, applying solutions and developing skills and strategies to manage emotions and realize your incredible strength and ability to persevere in the face of adversity and find acceptance in loss/grief and life's uncertainties. I enjoy assisting individuals who are experiencing emotional distress, caused by many factors such as societal/relational issues, grief, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I want to assist individuals in developing their long-term and healthy coping skills. Through effective psychotherapy I help individuals develop skills and strategies for managing emotions, achieve goals, and identify strengths for facing adverse and challenging situations. I have worked and served in different communities around Georgia in the past 12 years. I am not a laid back clinician and I am active. I interact and pick on my clients a lot. I will confront you! My method of counseling is experiential and is client focused. I don't give advice but if I feel anything about your life, I will tell you for sure. I don't hide myself behind my psychotherapy methods. I see young children for play therapy, couples, and adults and teens with various issues. I am a clinical supervisor and provide group supervision for freshly graduates on Thursdays at 12:30 pm.

Dr. David Cuna's life story is a testament to the transformative power of perseverance, education, and compassion. Born in the remote Angolan village of Cuximane in Maquela do Zombo, Angola, he faced significant challenges early on. Growing up without basic amenities like electricity and clean water, his access to formal education was limited to the 4th grade. However, his unwavering determination and thirst for knowledge propelled him on a journey that would change his life and inspire others. He established the Cuna Wellness Center, a private clinical practice that allows him to impact the lives of others directly.

My experience and educational background are directly related and have provided me with a well-rounded background in Therapy. I am a Military veteran with 30 plus years of experience working with patients in psychiatric hospitals, state mental health facilities, Illinois Department of Corrections, and in private practice. I am currently licensed to practice in Illinois, Kansas and Georgia. I also provide Tele-health service to Military members overseas (OCONUS).
