Dr. Artico has over 20 years of experience helping couples, adults and teens become who they were meant to be. She is the director of Gainesville Family Counseling, has taught at George Mason University, and is the author of the book Latino Families Broken by Immigration. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), has advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFT), clinical supervision, and sandtray therapy.
Dr. Artico's areas of expertise include treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety (including performance anxiety), and relationship difficulties. She has a collaborative, integrated approach to treatment using internal and external resources to help clients achieve timely and successful outcome in treatment.
Dr. Artico integrates approaches that are backed by current brain research as being useful in the treatment of psychological problems, blending mindfulness, meditation, breathing techniques, etc. to the traditional western approaches to treatment. She is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. She keeps office hours in Gainesville and Vienna, Virginia.
