We're left to our own devices to make sense of what happened... or didn't happen.
Why does that matter? Our childhood has a profound effect on who we become in adulthood. Being ignored, dismissed, criticized, or invalidated can seem invisible to us. But the consequences are very real, like life-long struggles with low self-esteem, difficult relationships, lack of meaning or purpose, even depression or anxiety.
